Change Accountant

    Hi - I recently engaged with an accountant to form a limited company. They registered me for VAT Taxes etc.

    Any correspondence I've received from revenue has '1234 Accountants' as my accountant.

    I've been trying to contact them in relation to finalising what VAT I need to pay at the end of this month, but I've just found out they've ceased trading.

    Where does that leave me, can I submit the VAT myself? Would another accountant be able to submit it? The VAT amount is small, but I'm wary not to fall foul of revenue at this early stage?

    You won’t fall foul of revenue not at the start, the revenue will give you a bit of time to submit the return so don’t worry. Just get a new accountant to submit the returns. Did your old accountant use accounting software that you have access to?
