I remember the day Mary Robinson came to my home town. She was planting a tree. I was there with my friends and as was usual for me eating sweets. Then I choked on one!! Someone did the heimlich on me and I was saved. Funny the things you will never forget.

In fairness she is a fantastic speaker - great presence and 30 years ahead of her time. Was inspiration to women like my mother raising 8 kids - basically alone. She got to meet her - due to her community work.

1990 I was in college. Had a part time job earning £1.50 an hour in a filling station. Few pints for less than a tenner and a free chicken curry in the bridge hotel in Waterford at 1am. We've gone backwards as a country :pac:

Robinson was a great leader, certainly very transitional. I'm not sure what her message is being on tonight. She reminds me of a corporate leader who has been coached beyond their personality.
