Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I remember the day Mary Robinson came to my home town. She was planting a tree. I was there with my friends and as was usual for me eating sweets. Then I choked on one!! Someone did the heimlich on me and I was saved. Funny the things you will never forget.

Seriously, I’d gladly be taken back to 1990, with just this thread than the current cesspool of combativeness we are surrounded by today!

"And yes, we can confirm, Roger Moore has left the airport, and is on his way, but he's stuck in traffic..."

    :D

On the show, (Roger) Moore recalled: ‘My father said to me, "You know I’m very disappointed in you, son."

    ‘I said, "What’s that?"

‘He said, "You were supposed to be on television last night but you never showed up".

‘I said: "What are you talking about?" and then he explained. I asked my then secretary and she told me what the episode was about and then eventually I saw it.

‘I said, "Dad, dad, that was the joke." But he said, "It’s very bad, very bad - you shouldn’t do that sort of thing."

Saw Mary on a flight from Paris once.

She looked fierce serious. And smaller than you'd think.

Meanwhile, the only time I've ever heard the word meitheal before was our other lady ex president, last time she was on this. She said it about 50 thousand times.

Without downplaying the significance, I am sure the President of Ireland had no political bearing on Ireland's economy improving during that era.

Lads in tribes were happy enough with their lot until they started seeing people with EyePhones and wanted a slice of that action.

In fairness she is a fantastic speaker - great presence and 30 years ahead of her time. Was inspiration to women like my mother raising 8 kids - basically alone. She got to meet her - due to her community work.

1990 I was in college. Had a part time job earning £1.50 an hour in a filling station. Few pints for less than a tenner and a free chicken curry in the bridge hotel in Waterford at 1am. We've gone backwards as a country :pac:

I really miss only having a phone in the house. That's it. Don't need people ringing me when I'm walking the flippin dogs.

Robinson was a great leader, certainly very transitional. I'm not sure what her message is being on tonight. She reminds me of a corporate leader who has been coached beyond their personality.

No questions about Princess Latifa tonight then. Just the usual fawning. I'm out.

    Get with the programme, Daddyo

They are all busy with their Bebo and Tamogachis, surfing with their oceanfree.net webs (off peak when nobody is on the phone)

Wasn't it the scandal over the cash for lenihans liver transplant?

    Was she?

Did she not fook off for a plummer’ position before her first term ended?

Yes, he was Charlie's stooge, and got caught out in a lie while doing the bosses bidding-which ironically involved the previous president, Paddy Hillary (who acted entirely honourably).

Brian Snr. was though so little of by Haughey, that a fund set up to pay for a liver transplant he urgently needed, was raided by ole Charvet.

The Lenihans, Mary excepted, suffered for their loyalty.

It was something about a phonecall I think which he said never happened but a reporter confirmed it did, was only a mundane topic but it cast doubt on him and that was that.

    Wrong.

I will say though, fair play to her for campaigning for Wood Quay. A disgrace that it was knocked. God knows how many millions per year was lost to the Tourist industry
