So at the halfway point, we have a three-way tie in first place: Zaph, Irish Aris and Reberetta are leading the pack, with Green&Red only two points behind. yozico and ...Diamonds of Frost are tied in third place, while previous silver-medallist the purple tin tumbles down to mid table.

At the bottom of the table: LadySkunk.

Feck! Least I didn't go with Ishiguro! Very nearly did.

I don't know what it says about how uncultured I am, but I could name more sumo wrestlers than I could Japanese writers.

To be fair, you don't need to know Japanese to watch sumo! ;)

Good point. I used to watch a lot of it when Eurosport showed it.

Right, I am going to grab another beer. I have no notes ready for the rest of the night so we might be here a while; I suggest you all grab some beers too! :p

In the meantime, here are the answers for Question 6:

    6. Nobel Prize
    ZpY9X6C.png

    Top Row:
Samuel Beckett – Nobel Prize in Literature, 1969. He did have a whole head, I just badly cropped out the top of it.
Richard Feynman – Nobel Prize in Physics, 1965 (jointly awarded with Julian Schwinger and Shin'ichiro Tomanaga)
Archbishop Desmond Tutu – Nobel Peace Prize, 1984.
Aleksandr Solzhenistyn - Nobel Prize in Literature, 1970.

    Bottom Row:
Yasser Arafat – Nobel Peace Prize, 1994 (jointly awarded with Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres)
Bob Dylan – Nobel Prize in Literature, 2016.
John Hume – Nobel Peace Prize, 1998 (jointly awarded with David Trimble)
Albert Einstein - Nobel Prize in Physics, 1921. I can heartily recommend the Einstein museum in Bern, Switzerland if you ever happen to find yourself in that part of the world.

3 is a nice round number. Why didn’t you pick bottom three?

I'm still a little incredulous Arafat got a Peace Prize :pac:

    Also it's my round folks

Everyone did well in this question (well, almost everyone).
All eight were identified, with a whopping three Aces in this round; I'm not sure whether I'm more impressed by Electric Nitwit and Rebretta's knowledge of the relatively obscure, or LeVar's bold selection of the most bleeding obvious! :D

I'm a mathematician, I genuinely didn't think Feynman was that obscure :pac:

Einstein though? Never heard of him!

Reberetta's Ace sees him pull ahead for now, but Zaph and Irish Aris aren't far behind.
At the other end, LadySkunk does what LadySkunk is wont to do.

I did physics in college (and was shít at it, but that's beside the point) so he wasn't obscure to me either, no idea how recognisable he'd be to a general audience though.

No, maybe not. He's a legend though, one of my favourite ever people :)

    Onto Question 7:

    7. TIME Magazine's "Person of the Year"
    7IwpHek.png

I made a bit of a boo-boo here; one of the names I selected was never actually named as a Time "Person of the Year". :o I was googling different things when making the quiz and must have got my wires crossed. Anybody who gave me that answer will still score points as normal.

    Top Row:
Adolf Hitler – Charlie Chaplin impersonator and vegetarian. Don’t mention the war! Time’s Person of the Year, 1938.
Henry Kissinger – US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor. Surprisingly is still alive (currently 97 years old). Time’s Person of the Year, 1972 (jointly awarded with Richard Nixon).
Charles Lindbergh – American aviator. Time’s (inaugural) Person of the Year, 1927.
Mark Zuckerberg – Facebook founder and CEO. Time’s Person of the Year, 2010.

    Bottom Row:
Chairman Mao Zedong – Chinese Communist leader. Was never actually Time’s Person of the Year (although I’m sure he won every year in China’s equivalent of Time Magazine!)
Willy Brandt – Chancellor of West Germany. Time’s Person of the Year, 1970.
Pope Francis – Pope. Time’s Person of the Year, 2013.
Donald Trump - He did not win the election. Time’s Person of the Year, 2016.

Reberetta opens up a seven point lead at the top now. Reigning champ Green&Red still in contention, with Sheridan81, Zaph and ...Diamonds of Frost not far behind.
