Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    We have reached peak hysteria.

Yup. I'm one of those staying in the UK for Christmas, haven't seen my family since last Christmas, my girlfriend was gonna fly home to hers for 2/3 days next weekend, she had covid about 6 weeks back so little to no risk of her bringing anything back. Now neither of us can see our families for god knows how long and we've come full circle with Irish people telling Irish who live abroad to **** off they're not welcome back home basically. Lovely.

Nope. That's not what is being said at all.

Countries are taking measures to protect their own populations.

There is nothing more to it than that.

Pele complaining that we didn't close the airports, people complaining that we do. It's hard to keep up.

The COVID maniacs have truly gone into overdrive this week and taken over the asylum - combination of Christmas, flu season and the “new strain” driving them over the latest cliff. This would be a very good week to switch off all MSM Irish media if at all possible.
Truly scary how there’s not a mention of coming out of this or any semblance or return to normal life, almost a year after this lockdown insanity was initiated by these same lunatics

I’m sorry to hear that. Real people get caught in the hysteria and suffer. These simpletons would be at the Airport with their pitchforks given half the chance such is the frenzy their single minds have been whipped into over a respiratory virus

Bit of an exaggeration. I don't know anyone that's been whipped into a frenzy. Some people have concerns for sure. I wouldn't call them simpletons.

Oh yea of course I forgot that, all Covid now- funny how flu isn't impervious to all the “life saving” measures but Covid 19 of the same family is

Just shows that you can't compare the two. Doesn't stop people in this thread though.

    So it's not a flu?

Finally we cleared that up after all this time, fair play to you.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration at all.

It’s only 6 short months ago since keeling farm was swamped with these frenzied drones waving their fists and placards.

This “super spreader” mutation is the perfect opportunity for them to resurface imo

Don’t forget the mink frenzy a couple of months ago. Flights from Denmark banned, talk of vaccine resistant strains etc. In my view, countries are being rightly cautious until they can be sure this potential variant is no different to the hundreds before it but the media absolutely love the hysteria and will latch on to it in any way they can. I predict before the end of the year, it will have been proven that the UK greatly exaggerated this new strain....

I find it rather amusing when the main thread regulars drop in these little nuggets, which stink of hypocrisy of course

Yeah. It’s very very convenient timing to have a new virtual sheep dog (virus mutation) to herd in the sheep to their pens (houses)

Dr Lockdown will be frothing at the mouth hearing about this new mutation. Just what he wanted to undermine the vaccine and keep this thang going!

Yes a Tory Government put London into Tier 4 restrictions for a "virtual" virus at the start of Christmas week.

Are you given your thoughts even the slightest of nonsense filtering before typing them out?

Why would a Tory Government want to crash its own economy?

Maybe you should take your tin foil hat off for a while. What sort of nonsense is this? Nobody wants this virus to continue to plague us for longer than it has to. Where are you reading this conspiracy nonsense bull****?

What is short term, noting we're 9 months inot this?

Grim Morning Bryan. We are looking good for late Summer 2022. The reach of DEATHS cold clammy hand should be shortened to the point where our technocratic experts may allow us to socialism with our comrades. Until then I’m afraid we will just have to do whatever Mr Tony says because those are the rules.

Thats a bit like asking why is the entire country mandated to wear masks, socially distance and have 20% + unemployment to combat a virus with 99.8% recovery rate.

2020 poses some very tough questions indeed.

Resurface? The mania never went away. These lunatics revel in it- it’s the same mentality as the witch burnings 100s of years ago just in a modern context. I knew the “new strain” would whip them into a newer bigger frenzy, literally cringed when I first heard about it

I think in their parallel universe of “new normal” anyone not in a perma frenzy about Covid 19 but rather strongly opposed to the completely useless and never ending restrictions are the ones in a frenzy to them.

Yes that’s exactly what I’m saying. It’s a 100% unproven mutation which has the benefit of panic to usher the public to reluctant obedience for the busiest time of the year.

So you are going deep with pandemic denial and full on conspiracy theories?

Fair enough, I think their is a separate forum for that craic.

    But as you were.

Grow up. It's an absolute disgrace that we gone this bad already. Restaurants are now closing in fear for their staff.

Well done Ireland were asked to reduce our social contacts so we could have an xmas, well you blown that. Lockdown now please

There is literally NOTHING stopping you from locking down yourself.

How have the hospitality lobby not copped on to the fact that the only way they will get back to trading safely and for good is to get the virus aggressively suppressed first and to keep it there? They keep on going on as if Nphet's recommendations are what is standing in the way of them staying open and making money, but the reality is that no one would go within an ass's roar of a restaurant if they were allowed stay open until 6 Jan as cases rose to 1500-2000.

So why does Tony not keep them open and avoid the flack?? I'd have no problem eating out at any time, no matter what the numbers were.
