Everybody is asked if they consent to it a few times including just before its administered.

4 days ago it was claimed the robust consent process was slowing down the administration in care homes.

Today - Sure we are not even asking them.

You couldn't actually write this horse shít.

NPHET have a team of 40 assembled since last March

    That’s about 35 man years

What the **** are they doing to justify their wages

They advise the government on the pandemic based on the governments remit.

That's a question you should have really not been holding in since March Fintan.

Maybe he can’t afford to feed his family?

Or maybe he is just an absolute selfish prick whose actions if widespread and mimicked by others will lead to longer restrictions and make people even poorer.

Like 'all those people you know'.

It takes 40 highly paid people to do that? Many of them have zero expertise in epidemiology including are gracious leader Tony Holohan.

If only so much resources was poured into giving the vaccine..

How many pandemics have you worked on yourself?

    What is the right number?

This crisis has highlighted how the HSE and NPHET are the greatest spoofers ever seen in this country.

NPHET have a team of 40 assembled since last March

    That’s about 35 man years

NPHET is not their full time job

Had to laugh at Ryan Tubridy and Paul Reid last night having a cosy little chat and telling people to stay at home and help the HSE.

One on €480k and the other on €350k per year, both funded by the tax-payer. No such financial troubles for those lads.

These people are so out of touch with reality, it’s frightening.

I would love to hear someone say why we should continue "helping" the HSE by giving up our freedoms and wrecking the economy. Its not like they're going to show they're competent by actually fixing their services and actually become a 1st world health service provider.

Maybe when the money finally runs out the "journalists" might feel the need to do their job and start asking the hard questions.

I don't like something, and people aren't agreeing with me or validating me so I want it closed down.

If you don't like the thread maybe don't read it?

    It’s amusing really

The only resort as a counter to well structured scientific data is to ask the mods to close the thread

    Makes me sick

You could think that... but put everyone in the country on PUP for a few weeks and see how much support there is for lockdown then...

    So crash the economy completely?

Have you any sort of filter between thought and typing?

Now if you could link to your claim the government are manufacturing the numbers I'd appreciate it.

Isn't that what everyone is supposed to be doing? What's wrong with that message? Stay at home unless you can't work from home, stay at home unless you have to get food/exercise/medical reasons. Yeah, they're on big salaries. What has that got to do with it?

The indigenous economy has already crashed

All tourism and non essential has been obliterated. The GNP is a catastrophe

FDI industry is continuing and giving inaccurate GDP figures

Putting everyone on the PUP would completely crash the economy.

That isn't my opinion, it's a dangerously stupid idea that would make a bad situation gravely worse.

Not me. WHO says so. According to them it is "rare" which pretty much translate they might but there is no evidence of it yet.

You could say the same about the issue you have with the vaccines. Ill affects are 'rare'. Pretty much translates to no issue.

Because much like the wannabe tyrants in the Dail if they were struggling to pay their bills and put food on the table they wouldn't be so keen on keeping us in endless lockdowns.

And where did I say anything like that?
I simply said that we were told that lockdowns are important and we have to endure them till vaccine come. And now we hear that even with the vaccine we will be implementing them every time someone decide we need another one. Vaccine suddenly changed from saviour to a just one of the measures to save us all. For the love of god there are professors getting airtime talking about zero covid which is pure fantasy cuckoo land thinking.

Eh? Regarding the emboldened text, where did 'we' hear that? Until the vaccine is properly rolled out, of course it's another measure. Did you honestly think that as soon as the vaccine reached these shores that we could immediately get back to normal? That appears to be what you are saying.

According to CSO 85 people die every single day in Ireland. While this is an average number it is generally much higher in winter months than summer months.
Say that about 100 people died yesterday and 20 of them with covid.
What exactly is so tragic if 20 people die with covid in a state with a population of 5 million?

If 20 people died of COVID yesterday and 85 people die on average daily the COVID is responsible for approx. one fifth of all deaths. Can you not see why COVID is a serious public health concern?

Can you not see from the median age of deaths and excess deaths that’s it’s not causing 6000 extra deaths in Ireland

20 people died with Covid not of Covid. Even Leo Varadkar and Tony H have stated this on numerous occasion.

    https://twitter.com/LeoVaradkar/status/1278995351169613824

The only meaningful stat is excess deaths which for 2020 were more or less normal or below normal overall ( the only month with excess deaths due to Covid was April 2020 AFAIK)

You do know there’s people qualified to deal with pandemics?

    5 epidemiologists.

would you prefer if a poor person told you to stay at home? what level of income would you accept public health guidance from? how about a low paid nurse? plenty of them wanting people to stay at home if you talk to them.

Where did the 6000 figure come from? On average we have 85 deaths per day. COVID is contributing to 20 deaths per day. This is simple stuff. COVID is dangerous.

Still cant see why we should leave a virus spread unchecked just because those who succumb to it are of a certain age group.

I dont agree with everything the government has done with regards to restrictions. They should have brought in enforced quarantine upon arrival to the country for one. However, pushing this narrative of lockdowns don't work is irresponsible.

If we didnt lockdown our economy would suffer just as badly. Do you think people would go out if COVId was rife?

Lockdowns are the least worst option right now.

Does that mean that it's only those fully employed that support lockdown? I thought it was those that were happy on the PUP to sit at home and watch Netflix that supported it? It's hard to keep up with this thread sometimes.

Endless lockdowns? It's not and hasn't been endless. The first one ended. The second one did too. Believe it or not, this current one will also end.

The most interesting thing about that is the difference in the reporting. Some are saying the increase is down to the new variant, some are saying it's nothing to do with the new variant. I wonder where they are getting the information from when they are reporting completely opposite things.
