In the real world vaccinations are proceeding at pace now. I know multiple people who already have gotten it. And the weekly update is not a Sunday

Where are the figures then? Daily scaremongering with the Covid figures but silent with regard to the numbers vaccinated, Naturally people are going to be skeptical and suspicious.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,134 ✭✭✭caveat emptor

I think everyone understands that but they also see very low death rates and a lack of transparency in the figures being given out. After almost a year of this the buy-in simply Isn’t there. Twice this week I have heard of people in their 80’s simply giving up on life and being sent into care homes to basically die. Not from COVID but from depression from the isolation. The lockdowns are killing people too.

Hyperbole much? Twice this week I've heard of two 80 year olds winning the lottery and investing it wisely.

Upon more research I see Donnelly initially said they'll be available on the HSE Hub App every Sunday but this has now changed to a press conference on Monday. A few more Covid19 celebs in the making.

It’s not difficult to find information. Also HSE planning for 1million doses a month

Just to give... reassurance, this week alone, we planned to do over 35,000 vaccinations, we will exceed that by today, I'm happy to say.

"We will now accelerate, we have accelerated the most vulnerable groups, which are elderly people in nursing homes and they will be completed now over the next two weeks instead of the next three.

Needs to be a daily update but won’t be because the rollout plan is an utter shambles.

500 cases per day for 6 months is 90,000. Not going to make much impact on transmission. 10,000 is 1.8millon. Then you would’ve starting to run short of hosts

Are we taking a sting of the surge or achieving herd immunity in a record breaking timeframe?

The 500 cases I mentioned is only the number reported, the actual number of cases in the population is bound to be much higher obviously.

”Where’s the revolution? Come on, people you’re letting me down!”

Stephen Donnelly needs to go ASAP. He’s like a car salesman and is the most untrustworthy politician I’ve seen in years (says a lot.)

Why does it need to be a daily update? How would a daily update change how you go about your business? How would it affect your day if you hear a number in the evening? It's like hearing the daily case numbers...doesn't change anything for me.

Well, they need to scrap the daily updates altogether or they need to include both.

But we know why they won't stop the daily updates, it's like a wooden spoon we get spanked with every day to keep us all in line...but why won't they give us a daily update on the vaccine rollout...because that will become a wooden spoon they get spanked with by the public.

We all know it will be a debacle....our shambolic health service exists to feed it's employees, not the public.

Still no vaccine numbers available yet. Zero. Not a clue how many have got it. Supposed to be weekly update but nothing. I suspect they're witholding this number because its shamefully low.

Case numbers in your face every day, though.

    What a fcuking shambles.

They don't want to tell us because once a certain amount have been done [ie. the most vulnerable] the majority will expect all this nonsense to be over with.

When did I say it is required for me to go about my business?

It was suggested to Stephen Donnelly last week to include the vaccine numbers daily and he said “great idea, let’s do it.” Two things wrong with that:
    1. How had he not thought of that sooner? This is the guy running our health department.
    2. It’s not happened

The rational behind the ask of including these figures in the daily numbers is to give people a sense of hope. A sense of belief and updates in which they deserve! People have put their life’s on hold, it’s the least they deserve.

Now take your passive aggressive nonsense elsewhere.

I wish it was Hyperbole. One is my neighbours mother in law who also lives locally and had a fully independent life until this kicked in and the other is the mother of a colleague of mine. Both very real and very sad cases.

Donnelly was determined to give the guards new power to enter the home without a warrant last a Summer. Thankfully the Irish home is incredibly well protected under legislation and he didn’t get his desire.

Personally I rather focus on getting the vaccines into arms rather that slowing the process with unnecessary paperwork to appease people who are afraid of the daily numbers.

The only numbers that counts is the vaccines that come into the country go out as fast and get to the people that need them.

A streamlined process according to the manufacturers instructions based on established data and science.

To sum up...it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Passive aggressive? Wise up. I'll post how I see fit. If you don't like it, there's an ignore option.

So both women with families with independent lives 10 months ago are being sent into care homes to die?

Paperwork is part of the process. We have to sign a paper when we get the flu so no doubt we'll have to do the same for this. They can give us the numbers of people vaccinated if they wanted to.

Two that I have heard about in the past 7 days. Why you find that so hard to believe is your own business but doesn't make it less true. I would imaging there are many more out there. Its actually a pathetic reflection on you to make those remarks.

Must be different to the two I know. They had a load of prize bonds and decided to put it all on a horse. The horse came in at 10 to 1 then they decided to go double or quits and put it all on the lotto.

The be paid off and they one the jackpot. Now they've invested in a non profit who's mission is to vaccinate all the old people so they too can live the good life like them.

They must move in different circles.

They have gone from living full independent lives with loving families, to being put into care homes in the middle of pandemic to die in the space of 10 months without any ailments or injuries?

    That is very hard believe.

    I don't actually believe it.

Now you have to right to tell us whatever stories want, I have the right not to believe them.

That's a shame. I've proof of my story luckily.
A great-grandmother from Gravesend has had her dreams come true after a £500,000 win on the National Lottery, and she told her family she "always knew I would win."

Sheila, a grandmother of 15, banked half a million pounds on the Thunderball amid the pandemic earlier this year, and has set her eyes on property after her lucky day.

The 80-year-old told her family and friends she knew she was destined to win, but admitted it was now all a bit surreal.

“I can’t get my head around it at the moment.

"It is still quite new and hasn’t really sunk in. It has become more real after holding the big cheque.”

I'm guessing NPHET won't be mentioning how successful we've been at surpressing the virus, I recall just before Christmas, we were being reminded how well we were doing, number 1 in the European charts etc

Not anymore, a shameful state of affairs really

Yes astonishing but don't worry, the government have a cunning plan, get a new secretary General for the department of health in and pay him €292k a year, if it wasn't for the shambolic past 10 months, I'd have thought this was made up, but no and it's disgusting.

    Pathetic.

    It is pathetic.

Think of all the elderly you know, your in laws, parents, neighbours etc...you can see how the lockdowns have impacted them...especially the 2nd lockdown and this one no doubt, for a lot of them their lives will never be the same, they will lose confidence in meeting people, driving, socializing.

A lot of the elderly people didn't go to their grand kids communions last year out of fear!

That was last summer when the "numbers" were in the dozens.

I'll say it again, the restrictions last summer were nothing short of a disgrace.
