Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Possibly up to 2000 missed cancer cases due to restrictions from Covid!

As far as I understand, cancer deaths don't really count anymore, so we're actually ok with that.

    - Cancer is the biggest killer in Ireland.
    - It accounts for approximately 30% of deaths every year.
    - One person dies from cancer every hour in Ireland.
    - This year in Ireland an estimated 43,361 people will be diagnosed with cancer.
    - Over 9,000 deaths every year are from cancer.

But hey, covid matters way more. What is cancer these days anyway?

No big deal about people missing appointments or treatment...

Well there were one noticeable cancer death yesterday that Tony will be doing his best to ignore

Theres some proper horror stories coming out of the UK right now about missed cancer treatments. Read a story today of a young mother who's only 23 and had her appointments delayed and now has been told over Zoom she has a rare cancer that'll give her 6 months to make memories with her child. ****ing awful.

Yet internationally there is evidence that the conduct of people in restaurants is less likely to spread Covid than in pubs.

And it stands to reason, the sloshed often act the bollix.

That’s great because you show me this evidence please- give me the stats

Leo's some Tulip, typically leaking decisions that had not actually been made, namely everything will reopen, and O, no travelling up north (he back tracked on that almost immediately, with Mehole showing rare determination by rubbishing Leo's silly comments at the FG parliamentary party meeting.

Back to Tony Houlihan, who really seems to cause alot of stress on this Thread, seems he's sensibly getting his way again.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

It suits Dr Death to leak everything to the media once again, thinks he runs the country. He has our cowardly politicians under his thumb.

Regardless of all the data , Tony H continues his fear driven vice grip control of the country - no mention that second wave is less dangerous than first wave - no mention of the other serious illness and diseases not getting teated, and NPHET dont seam to care about mental health.

Micheal Martin has done nothing as Taoiseach , cant see him stand up to our un-elected new leader who is not weak, unlike our elected leader. Sad times.

They'll kill the pub and restaurant industries in this country before this is done.

It's a PR exercise and suits the government, NPHET go for extreme as they can, Micheal Martin stands up to Tony and gets us a level 4 lite and were thankful to him as it's better than Tony's option.
It's all bull, they know exactly what they're up to.

The reality tv drama continues tonight, Holohan is now causing a scene with the government once again.

'Concerned' - 'very concerned' - 'extremely concerned'

Don't go to see your families, keep the pubs shut, hide away at home, dont kill granny, keep the windows open and make your grandparents sick, wear masks at the dinner table like good little people and please obey Lord Holohan or face the consequences.

George Lee is in full doom mode this evening on RTE, give me a bloody break...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,517 ✭✭✭RobitTV

George Lee - "Well some of the figures are nowhere near where we need to be"

    Just **** off.

Somebody give this guy a beer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,517 ✭✭✭RobitTV

Holohan, NPHET and the media are going into a major panic tonight as they try to sway the government from relaxing the restrictions.

They have twisted the doom knob up to maximum. Battle stations!

Do Martin or Tony care - Tony calls all the shots , no one questions his authority even though ther are holes everywhere - his past , why no sizeable increase of ICU beds in summer / why not address the report than the second wave is 90% less fatal than first wave - Do prolonged lockdowns even reduce the overall death rate ?

nevermind, level 5 lockdown is the answer to all our ills according to NPHET/HSE and above all Tony - Martin needs to show some common sense in standing up to this unelected dictator, but i fear he is to weak to do so, has shown no real leadership qualities since taking office.

Anyone else think Leo saw this coming from NPHET this evening hence him jumping the gun earlier today saying pubs and restaurants will be opening? Clever play if that was his motive...!

Now they are concerned about overcrowding at the shops from next week.

My god I am so shocked, what did they expect to happen when you kept all retail outlets shut since October?

Are they really this utterly delusional? - it they kept retail outlets open, then you wouldn't have huge crowds returning to the shops from next week.

Now everyone will be arriving at the stores at the same time. They are so foolish its laughable!

Anyone who thinks Dr Death is 'only doing his job' needs to wake up.

He is a zealot using hysteria and a weak Government to push his agenda.

Not only has he presided over some absolute scandals, he is a threat to our democracy and if the Government had any balls at all, he'd be removed from his post immediately.
