Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The very definition of a hive mind. Anyone I talk to thinks its a pain but they understand that we can't just throw caution to the wind. Different flavours, everyone has an opinion but I would contend that the views here are more extreme.

You would contend with the sky if you didn't like the colour. Tell me this and we'll stick with your love of Melittology, what's the very definition of a DRONE then?
one can say it's to pass, proceed, or act in a dull, drowsy, or indifferent manner

Reopening of restaurants to get go-ahead from Cabinet - Link

Sad night for the misery merchants. Merry Christmas!

Sad night for the majority of pubs. People in towns and cities will have plenty hotels and gastro Pubs to choose from. Rural traditional pubs are not likely open now until we all have the vaccine....many will never re open. Rural Ireland is dying.

Oh I don’t think he’s done yet. Redoubling of efforts tomorrow ahead of final call. He’ll fight a bit harder I reckon - ego will demand nothing less. If denied he will dream of subtle ‘I told you so’s later this month. Depends if he has enough dirt on key NPHET dissenters in government. Hearteningly they are growing in number.

Stop blaming Tony you'll get kicked out of this one as well, Tony isn't the problem he's merely public health advice, he'll tell you not to go to the pub, he'll also tell you, don't have unprotected sex, don't drink too much alcohol, don't do drugs, don't take unnecessary risks. It's his Job, he's very good at it.

They only person responsible for this is Micheál Martin.

I can’t believe u were banned for that, that’s ur opinion of the man and some amount of people would agree. I called Varadkar that before and didn’t get banned so what the difference?

Tony Holohan is our Lord and Savior. Surely you say your decades of the rosaries to him every night before bed. You don't. Repent you dirty, dirty heathen.

All you Tony haters don't exactly help in that department I have to say.

I’m sensing you’re not angry, just disappointed.

That's an anal sex reference used in the community, I'm not in it, that's their decision. If they want it I'll support their right to do it.

If your talking about unprotected sex with women, hell ya i'm all for it, 'tis the best type.

Bareback is just no johnny, no gay connotations. And it is the best type.

The hive here are infuriating and it doesn't take long to respond to a wave of baseless attacks. Most of the country disagree with you, if you steep yourself in just one viewpoint you will become paranoid about dissenting opinions.

Back on topic, I am waiting for your response.

You've summed it up well there even though its an amusing thread and I check in here a lot .
There's obviously growing frustration and fatigue in general,it's an absolute pain in the balls.People deal with that differently and some people seem to be doing that by buying into conspiracy theories and having meltdowns online.
You're p1ssing in the wind on this thread, echo chamber of the unhinged.
It's the same 20 lads going around thanking each others posts and trying to convince themselves they're in the majority.
It's the kind of people youd cross the road to avoid and that's nothing to do with Covid.

People are going to socialise with friends and family, end of story. We aren't going to ever return to the dark days of March. The pubs and restaurants could control this with proper health and safety regulations.

I never thought I’d say this but can we get back to talking about Tony Holohan please?

I am certainly not a drone by any definition. More personal attacks?

I asked you a question it wasnt an assault..stop identifying as a victim will ya...more personal attacks? Trust me if i was personally attacking you youd be (a). Too thick to realise. (b) too stupid to understand and (c) too predictible to warrant it in the first instance... you'd be a wasted spar at best and youd probably disapear and come back as stickykeyboard.. but..nah i like you far too much for that buddy

Just ignore the troll. Some people get sort of excited when getting attention. Perhaps they do not have enough of it in real life so they realize their wet dreams on the internet. No matter how many times they get banned they always come back. New nickname but always the same manners or posting style.

No point to engage with them they are just wasting your time.

I think cases went up myself because testing went through the roof..turn enough stones and youll find all the snails you want. People were so panicked in anticipation of winter season that they were keeping kids off, not going to work and calling their doctor for common ailments..doctors were overwhelmed and the hype and panic made it worse...to use a film quote mixed analogy....you yell cold or flu people say what? where???....you yell covid 19 ...and we have a panic on our hands on the busiest weeks of the year....

Yes they were looking more intensely and that did find more cases however the only way to reduce the spread of the virus is to identify were it is. There is little point in opening up with a BREN gun if you don’t know were the enemy is. Unlike other countries you have to go through a GP to get a covid test and this has just added to confusion. The government like all previous Irish governments have put their heads in the sand with the hopes that this latest crises will blow over when they should have taken steps to mitigate the current scenario and it’s a real failure of the state that the havent,

Yea I stopped about 20 pages back. Clearly a re reg of an old friend. They’re marooned in their long debunked opinions. As you say let them live out their fantasy, talking away to themselves

I'm not in my 70's and it sounds like good balanced plan to me.

    What is nuts about it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,328 ✭✭✭Banana Republic 1

Relatively they did quite well actually, very low deaths lately but room for improvement.

Yes but they still refuse to contemplate mass testing and such which is baffling because the population is so small comparatively. I think it just because we are in level 5 now Ireland is getting off lightly more than anything.

    Nowhere near 70 lol

It's a balancing act and prob as good as we were going to get

once intercounty travel is allowed over the Christmas period that's a major thing to me

So the carrot and stick approach works.
You seem to be quite happy with "being allowed intercounty travel over Christmas period". What then?
So we should be all merry about being able to shop and jump county borders for what like 2-3 weeks?

How on earth did we get to this state of mind.

No doubt the pubs along with travel, sporting events and gigs etc will flourish when they can get back to normal but when that will be( orallowed to happen by Irish government and NPHET standards) I don't know

Think about that: once you're "allowed" to travel an hour up the road in our own small country, you're happy?

This is nuts. The government serve the people, not the other way around. This bullsh*t better end soon.

    It's more accepting

Allows some family who will stick to the restrictions to head home for Christmas

Long term I hate level 3 as it's stick to your own county and now fines for breaking the restrictions
