Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For the pupose of objectivity, the protests in France have Nothing, Yes NOTHING to do with restrictions, lockdowns etc, they are about a new security law.

You know these protests are about a new French law around the ability to share media related to the police force and have nothing to do with Corona?

That is NOT true, the security law will ban the public from sharing information about police officers.

Meaning that the police cannot be held accountable for their actions during the times of coronavirus or general police brutality.

There are many reasons behind this protest today.

This is a protest so that the police can be held accountable for their actions. This new law would ban the public from holding police officers accountable for their actions.

This could mean they cannot be held accountable for their actions during the coronavirus situation.

    Sorry to inform you guys.

it would also mean they can't be held accountable for their actions during future World Cups, therefore the protest is against the world cup

Instead of thinking for a minute of the reasoning behind this protest, they jump the gun and clearly fail to understand the actual reasoning behind this new law and why people are angry.

Individual police officers cannot be held accountable under this new law.

This has to do with the coronavirus situation (Police actions) and police brutality outside of the coronavirus situation.

You cant link upcoming covid protests with police brutality law? Or you think people wont protest against nonsense restrictions much in the future?

I am not sure there is any hope.... You must be living in cuckoo land thinking that once vaccine rolls out everything is back to normal, everyone has a job and economy is booming with no1 protesting on the streets due to poverty?

So this is life now then?

Christ if there was a wall nearby, I would bang my head against it. Are you deliberately being obtuse? Come on, of course this isn't "life now then". This is existence not living. Why were billions invested in vaccines to simply carry on as we are now? Most experts are saying that all previous aspects of life (you the know the things we do to socialise, such as travel, hospitality, concerts, matches, etc) will return but it will be a gradual process. Some of the more optimistic say middle of next year, others say later. But life will return.

Dozens of rallies took place against a provision of the law that would make it a crime to publish photos or video of on-duty police officers with the intent of harming their “physical or psychological integrity”.

Civil liberties groups and journalists are concerned that the measure will hinder press freedoms and allow police brutality to go undiscovered and unpunished.

Speaking of them, Ireland really need a new civil liberties group with credibility. The current lot are a joke, who've said very little about the madness on this island the last few months. A time where you'd expect them to be very active, yet they are not doing much at all.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

The way some police forces have acted during this covid situation has been unacceptable.

the World Economic Forum illuminati has enacted The Great Reset which world leaders are following to keep the entire planet under permanent lockdown forever. covid may have been artificially created to start it all.
