Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Arent you the 1 who cant link the police brutality law with regards to taking videos of police officers and upcoming covid protests?

    Truly absurd if you cant.

Individual police officers cannot be held accountable under this new law.

This has to do with the coronavirus situation (police actions) and police brutality outside of the coronavirus situation.

Civil liberties groups and journalists are concerned that the measure will hinder press freedoms and allow police brutality to go undiscovered and unpunished.

You're making the connection between the protest and Coronavirus. You've said yourself it's to do with police actions to do with the current situation...and ALL other situations. So, to sum up, the French aren't protesting about Coronavirus restrictions.

What do you mean they aren't? are you now speaking on their behalf?

There have been many protests against the lockdown measures in Paris and police brutality for months. In many cases they are protesting against the police in the way they have conducted themselves since March.

Dozens of rallies took place against a provision of the law that would make it a crime to publish photos or video of on-duty police officers with the intent of harming their “physical or psychological integrity”.

Claiming riots in France are due to Covid-19 is a blatant mistruth, what part of that are you missing???

Nope. Mostly you. You and PJ are quite famous for that.

You tend to post when there are good few posters who are expressing their anger at nonsense restrictions. You'd post something along the lines of

"there are economic consequences in all other countries because of covid"

Absolute useless rubbish that doesnt contribute anything to discussion.

They are protesting about POLICE brutality, this all leads to the way the police have conducted themselves since March and the way they treat people OUTSIDE of the covid situation. It's two major things.

They are protesting about the state of the nation and the way the police have treated people for months and years.

Christ if there was a wall nearby, I would bang my head against it. Are you deliberately being obtuse? Come on, of course this isn't "life now then". This is existence not living. Why were billions invested in vaccines to simply carry on as we are now? Most experts are saying that all previous aspects of life (you the know the things we do to socialise, such as travel, hospitality, concerts, matches, etc) will return but it will be a gradual process. Some of the more optimistic say middle of next year, others say later. But life will return.

Life will return but only when a discussion occurs and leaders make decisions.

It will likely have little to do with a vaccine.

Some people are going to get a shock when a vaccination programme is completed and people are still dying at the same rate and hospitals are just as full as they always were.

Are you having difficulties reading? You quote and bold the part that doesnt talk about covid at all.

I am unsure whether you are aware of the word - implied.

Let me give you an example - France makes it illegal to video police officers (to "use the video footage against individuals committing brutality lol). RobitTV says that this law will make it easier for police brutality to prosper while breaking up covid restrictions protests.

You and Penfailed who have issues understanding the connection come and start posting rubbish about "these things are not related"..... not for 1 second thinking of in what scenarios can 1 take a video of police brutality occurring

(I ll give you a hint, in a case of protests against covid restrictions) (mind blowing isnt it?)

I notice some posters only quote pieces from my posts and take it out context, leaving the rest of my post out of the quote because it suits them to make a point.

Seemingly they can't make a point from the whole of my original postings.

This is just one of the many pointless 'going around in circles' debating formats.

Debating is utterly pointless if you keep on being selective with your quotations. So the agenda can be suited to your liking.

There are only a trickle of deaths at the moment. The April peak was the climax of the covid crisis.

There will still be a trickle of deaths post-vaccine.

How many will really abandon their family over Christmas on foot of "medical advice" from Dr Gabriel Scally?

Anyone here not seeing their family for Xmas?

We've already seen the emergence of a parallel society: secret gyms, illegal pubs, an underground social scene etc.

This farce will drag on until the "official" part of society throw in the towel. And I include ordinary pro-restrictions posters who hold down middle-management positions in IT in that.

Face masks while cooking and no hugs: Here's the advice on how to plan Christmas Day this year - Link

Unfortunately, you’re going to have to limit physical contact with other people. So for example:

Trying to avoid hugs, kisses and handshakes
Don’t share items like crockery and glassware
Avoid sharing food and buffet style set ups.

Think they're hanging us all out to dry, to be honest. Directives coming from the EU.

Laughing at the amount of people thinking we're about to turn a corner with the vaccine. Freedom was never going to be handed back for 'free'.

    2021 will be very interesting.

Speaking of them, Ireland really need a new civil liberties group with credibility. The current lot are a joke, who've said very little about the madness on this island the last few months. A time where you'd expect them to be very active, yet they are not doing much at all.

    Who funds them?

    The state?

To be fair and as other posters have said the conversation regarding vaccines has shifted from lockdown and restrictions until there's a vaccine to restrictions until a significant portion of people are vaccinated. The goalposts have been moved a fair bit.

If the goalposts don't keep shifting, how will the NPHET nutters keep themselves in the spotlight???!

I would have thought the latter from the start tbh. I always imagined normality would come gradually as more people get vaccinated , makes more sense.

Famous? Like what, 'Boards famous'? Amazing. I'm touched.
I tend to post when people post inaccurate nonsense and pull them up on it. It happens regularly. You may think it doesn't contribute to the discussion but I think accurate and factual information is critical to the discussion. Yes, we are going to suffer economically...but who isn't? Ireland isn't alone in this. Reading this thread, you would think that Ireland is doing everything wrong when that's patently untrue and many other countries have similar approaches.

At least you are consistent. Consistently posting rubbish.

And yes, Ireland is doing everything wrong. I am sure you arent aware that we have youngest population in EU. And yet we are working hard to keep all those young people locked up.

But carry on thinking we are "in line with others"

Again, you're failing to address the point and are making a separate point about a different topic. The people in Paris are not protesting against lockdown. They're protesting against proposed police powers. The police powers cover everything, not just Covid. The fact that the people of France protest regularly about a plethora of issues is lost on you. I know the powers can ALSO be used against protesters protesting about Covid...but that's not the purpose of the protests.

Fictional friends? Okay. The thing I didn't mention in my post was that our mutual friend's father who passed away this morning, had Covid. I suppose you think I'm making that up too? He had dementia and was in a care home in the north.
