I actually now understand why people don't work, have no interest in work and in many cases under our extremely generous welfare system they can be in very well off circumstances.
I appreciate low paying jobs people will need a dig out and help towards living costs but to be put up in a apartment worth €700k to €950k is pure nuttery

And then we have to listen about how the government don't care about the poor and vulnerable yada yada.

If yer man feels genuinely aggrieved, he's some self entitled prick. However if he is laughing away to himself at the stupidity of us spud pickers then fair play to him.

First they came for the socialists...

Well not a shock as it doesn't paint a very good picture and it seems to strongly suggest the twitter account and the luxury apartment dwelling gym goer are indeed one and the same person. Hopefully someone took screenshots of that account.

I didnt read his twitter and I was finding this thread an extremely tall tale that someone could get from Canada to Dublin social housing but now I am more interested.

I work in Dublin, live in Louth and have a 90 minute plus each way commute partly by bicycle and the rest on train, hail rain or shine. Since the pandemic I have been working from home, I actually feel guilty about how much happier and healthier I am because of working from home, I actually felt a little bit sick when I heard a commentator say that we will all be back to normal soon. (Of course this is wrong of me and I hope everything gets back to normal quicker).

I graduated in the middle of the last recession. I could not afford to further my studies for the career I wanted and instead had to move away from my family to work in a sh!te call centre job down the country which I hated. I did this for five years before finally getting into a good career. I moved to Dublin and before long got evicted from the house where I was only paying slightly extortionate rent. Landlord wanted to "sell" it, sale must have fallen through cause it was back up on the market for way more. So I had to move back to my parents where I am living now because I couldn't afford anywhere else in Dublin. I have struggled and saved a deposit now and can afford a home for around 200k, which means I can't afford a house anywhere closer than an hours commute (at least) to Dublin. So I will be commuting forever. I could never dream of living in a 700k apartment, never mind feel entitled to, and to have a concierge service and a gym.

I do enjoy my job but I'm having a sh!t day today. Why didn't I just go on the housing list and dole in Dublin back when I graduated? Why was I such a sap as to go moving miles away to a town where I had never been and knew no one for a soul destroying call centre job that nearly broke me? Why did I put so much effort into getting a good career, which I have now, when I still can't afford somewhere to live (that's not a massive sh!thole) where I don't spend 3 plus hours commuting a day? Why did I spend so much in rent over the years barely scraping by? Why did I spend the last while saving every penny I had to get a deposit for a house? I missed out on so many trips, nights out with friends etc, thinking that it would be worth it and when I saved I could make up for it, but sure lockdown? Why am I going to spend all my savings on a house and commit to spending a massive chunk of my wages every month for 30 years for a modest house that I won't be in for 12+ hours a day? While my job is grand it isnt exactly fun there are lots of other things I'd rather do, why am I going to spend the next 40 (we will probably have to work to 70) years working, with the stress and missing out on family, hobbies etc? Whats the point?

I think I've been a fool. I should have went on the dole as soon as I graduated. Slummed it for a couple of years with HAP or whatever, and then gotten a nice house, flat or whatever and would have been set up for life. If I fancied it I could have went to work then at a similar job to what I have now and would have a handy commute. But sure I might enjoy sitting on my arse more. This would have been a much better approach than working in a call centre for 5 years, I'd be in a much better position.

Sorry for the self indulgent moan, having a crap day today and this sent me over the edge. 700k apartment, gym, concierge service, wtf! If I'm this pissed and this much of a fool I imagine the people who bought apartments in the same complex as this guy and are paying through the nose feel like right retards.

I have new African neighbours who got a house worth 300,000 that was previously purchased by the council. The mother of the family says she owns a business and only 2 months ago she purchased s brand new vehicle worth just under 40,000 while the rest of us have to pay a mortgage and scrape by. She probably played the racist card to get up the housing list.

I've noticed similar around Jobstown. A lot of the Africans living in social housing there have decent mid tier cars that are only a few years old.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Well his now deleted twitter account was almost entirely shouting in broken english about how racist Canada and her airport authorities were. And then he comes here and within 18 months has a luxury apartment? And still shouts racism? Well then may I suggest he fcuks off back to where he came from, and yes I went there and have zero issue with stating it. He sure as hell wouldn't be in a nice apartment on the back of taxpayers ahead of locals there or in Canada for that matter.

Like I said earlier I know a few lads not a million miles away from where he originated and all are paying rent/mortgages and just getting on with life. One bloke I recall was on the dole for a time alright, but got training and a job. He was living in a friend's spare bedroom throughout.

We have enough of our own scrounging cute hoors, so why are we hell bent on importing more of them and apparently treating them better than our own? And all such pricks have to do to shut down dissent or even basic bloody questions is to pull the "racism" card.

I'd like to know in what fashion two local politicians will insinuate themselves in to a topic where they possess no interest or say as the Property Management Company is only answerable to its members who happen to be the owners of the Apartments in the Development. These residents are not owners and Fold has already clearly stated that they considered it to be a poor use of funds to pay for access to rooftop gardens or gyms or concierge services.

How did SF know which apartments to send the letter to, or did they just blanket bomb them all?

An owner occupier would get a good laugh receiving that.

One of the many mistakes in the IT article was the name of the apt block, so they have just put one in maybe 80 mail boxes of non social housing apartments.

And the answer to the action in the first quote is in the second quote. Even Inspector Clouseau would be able to figure out that a lot of things just don't add up, but the blame lays in the hands of those who provided the Turkish Kurd with the €3/4 million social housing apartment in the first place. Did they carry out due diligence in this case? Is there anybody out there in Irish Media that would just grow a backbone and ask these questions.

The other embarrassing 'social' parties will be raging they didn't get in first
PS They all probably did btw, I'm not that naive!

There is absolutely fck all discrimination occuring in this 'news' story, nothing - racial or social
The ungrateful greedy whingers and their enablers

There is no-one sane on the left/centre-left I can vote for - no one.

There will be a backlash soon against the left-wing parties if they don't look after their voters. Access to scarce public services - housing, schools, hospitals - will be the issue over which their typical voter will abandon these parties. The people on the housing list in Dublin, and their families who are sick of them sleeping on the sofa, won't vote for any party who allowed Dublin City Council to gift a luxury apartment to this guy.

Sinn Fein attracted most left-wing voters in the general election - an impressive feat considering how fragmented and fractious the Left in Ireland has become - but they will lose them next time out to any party who can credibly promise to deliver decent public services for their voters.

Sinn Fein voted DOWN 800 new houses on Oscar Traynor Road in Dublin the other day on brainless ideological grounds.

Then their housing spokesman takes to twitter expressing sympathy on the death of 2 homeless men.

That's the level we are dealing with here.

Yeah, heard Brid Smith discussing this on the radio yesterday morning. The plan was it to be a mixed development of private, social and affordable housing but Brid wanted it to be completely for public housing.
