There is actually a team dedicated to this and they do keep a tally....

Although I think an accurate answer on this question might be the wrong way to go....

Yeah but how do they separate out those that are written by adults (admittedly different) for S&G or with an unusual sense of humour?

"Dear Santa for Christmas I'd like three nights with Angelina Jolie."

I think only the kids ones get a reply and those are tallied too. They read all of them

    Dear Santa,

For Christmas I would like to win the 2020 advent calendar game hosted by Electric Nitwit.

    Yours,
    Strawbs.

You should have an idea of the population of Ireland. Devide that by X, then devide that answer by Y, bam...there is your answer.

I did that but the answer i got was a word not a number.

The word is not for children's ears

There's still too many possibilities for my feeble brain to consider. And there's too many assumptions in that statement. Not all children write letters, not all parents actually post the letters, not all children celebrate christmas, not all children believe in santa....................

I'm assuming that the lowest and highest numbers could be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry far apart.

Are the letters written by parents on behalf of their kids included in this total?

I actually looked this up as one of the kids was asking me about it last year...

Of course I have no earthly idea what the answer was then 12 months on :(

They get a reply?!?! Well my guess is definitely completely off then :(

Wait, people think this was an easy question?

Hardest one so far... how am I supposed to know how many bloody kids there are in the country, and at what ages they start and stop writing letters at...

Thank fook I'm not the only one who is thinking this!

I was struggling to decide between two answers so I applied scientific logic and subtracted one from the other.

Pre-Covid, it was considered okay to sit on the lap of a strange looking man with a long white beard.

When you have one of those faces can you blame him?

Funny enough, for a work thing, I was looking for some old photos of me with Santa and I came across one when I was nearly three and I have a face like thunder on me. In my defence the Santa is very thin and his fake beard is off to one side, three year old me is NOT impressed.
