You need to try to land in the middle of all the answers. In theory that should be close to the correct answer, if the wisdom of crowds theory is true, but today... nope!

If the answers had of been (1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,100) then the median would have been 1 and 8 players would have gotten score 10. But if done by average, 12, then no players would get score 10.
