They had a similar question on Richard Osman's House of Games last year in regards to the British Public and I think it was £750. I wasn't quite sure what the exchange rate is, but I was thinking the actual answer would be along the same lines...

The problem of course was trying to figure out what the rest of you crazy b@stards would say, so I still have no confidence whatsoever in my answer.

Personally I set myself a budget of €150 and usually come in under that so I can spend the difference on pints for myself because I'm a grinch and a miser.

There are people who spend ridiculous amounts at xmas even when they don't have it to spend, so I can't tell if the average would be in the hundreds or thousands... My inital thought was that Santa is an anagram of Satan so I should just go with the number of the beast, 666, but that seems too low when I've written it out. I'd say there's people who spend the guts of a months wages if not more... Crazy money when you think of it. Then there's the lunatics around here to consider and there answers, I reckon most of them have more money than sense.

I don't have a clue what people spend! I imagine most people say they spend more than they actually do, so as not to sound cheap
