I'm looking to convert a standard Giant road bike to an e bike. Is there any bike shop in the Mid West (Clare or Limerick preferably) that offers this service?

    Thanks

The bike shops in Limerick arent even doing repairs at the minute they're so busy so not sure about a project like this but please keep us posted anyway.

I converted my commuting bike three weeks ago and i love it. However, even for a basic conversion just the parts will be more than 500 euro. In case you are not comfortable to do the works yourself i would rather get a new ready one from decathlon (they start at 790 euro)

What did you do? Was it a roadbike?

Not a Roadbike, but a 29" single speed. But the same parts (motor, battery and controller) could be used on pretty much any bike.

sorry, all content is im german but might give you a idea about the costs for such a conversion

There is a wide variety of electric bikes on adverts and donedeal some home made, hard to know what to go for. Just turning 50 was thinking of treating myself to one, I would like the look of those fat tyre types my budget would be 1000 to 1500, live in the countryside in galway a few small hills, leisure cycling only weekends any recommenations thanks.
