Good start to the new week.

What reported number of cases are expected tonight? With restrictions easing from tomorrow and a press briefing tonight it's probably too much to expect under 200 cases.

Swab count today is 190, but there seems to be a substantial backlog, so probably a good bit higher.

It could be under 200 or it could be closer to 300, nobody knows anymore! 7 day and 14 day rates should drop anyway!

I just booked dinner for two in a different local to the walk in one

They have distinct two hour slots, so 6-8/8-10 and there is no deviation

Another place on Facebook is only taking bookings for 4-6 people

    All a bit random tbh

The one with the slots is our favourite place to go they are very strict with rules etc which we like

I like the idea of the slots - you know exactly where you stand. Hope you both enjoy your dinner......well deserved!

Why would there be a need for herd immunity if the vaccine is available for those who want it?
Is it because that some people can't take the vaccine because of medical reasons?

Yes. And those whose immunity is waning faster eg .older people or those with compromised immunity
There will always be outbreaks which will hit those groups.
It's the latter group that can be caught unawares though as anybody can have fluctuating immunity for various reasons .eg medications or just a different autoimmune response to the vaccine / virus.
Those would be the ~ 5% + who are not immune even after getting the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines for example .
This can happen at any age . One of my children got measles and mumps despite having had the vaccinations .

So what the story with pubs and restaurants are there time limits and is it booking only ?

A pub/restaurant in my town has tried and failed to get clear guidance from the VFI on what guidelines they need to follow to open (opening hours, timing, table distance, etc). The VFI apparently haven't even confirmed to members that the same rules apply as in summertime.

The owner has decided that, since he can't draw up rotas and is likely to be asked to close again in January, he's not re-opening at all this year.

The restaurant does a great takeaway trade at weekends, I'm assuming that will continue.

The later is the most important thing however Dr Holohan and Co will likely quote the worry-o-meter tonight while George Lee will tell us all about how much we should be fearing Christmas.

Last Monday 252 cases were reported, the Monday before that it was 482, so if the figure is in between the 2, we'll hear the 7 day rate in increasing, a worrying trend etc... (ignoring the 14 day rate reducing)
5 day's ago there was 269 cases, if it was under 252 cases, ya would bet they would be quoting the 5 day figure lol.
Basically, what ever one works out the highest is what they will reference.

9 euro meal back, must be produced onsite
No more than six to a table
Cannot book multiple tables for bigger groups

That’s going to be a sticking point for lots of pubs then. The last time they were ordering food offsite.

Yup good way of keeping pubs closed

Some towns won't have any pub open thanks to that rule

So nothing new that we didn't already know about apart from no live music

Don't see the harm of someone with an acoustic guitar, doing a one piece gig.

But, whatever. I'm not going to argue.

Is it counter intuitive so in that it may cause additional travel?

I'm guessing the time limit restriction is still in effect? Didn't see it there.

Those regional outbreaks are still holding us back. Every time we get on top of one, another seems to pop up elsewhere.

116 backlog cases added in today.

It seems that on the days when the positive swab figure is low they manage to find a backlog to add in.
