It seems that on the days when the positive swab figure is low they manage to find a backlog to add in.

seems to be the case alot .

2/3 of deaths linked to hospital/nursing home outbreaks

Awful numbers yet again. Not in a good place going out of lockdown unfortunately

Those regional outbreaks are still holding us back. Every time we get on top of one, another seems to pop up elsewhere.

And the persistence of Dublin ;)

They'll be jumps in the four hurling semi finalist counties in 10-14 days

I would really like to see a similar presentation to that of NPHET given by the Department of Finance comparing how we have performed vs other countries in Europe in terms of the overall economic performance, unemployment rate, small business closures etc. This would then able a balanced review of the health measures vs economic impact to see if we have chosen the right path in all of this in particular for the so called second wave throughout Europe.

As it stands, it is undoubted that we have performed better from a medical perspective when compared to many countries throughout Europe but this is only one piece of the equation.

    Indisputable fact.

    Alarmist opinion.

I tend to lean strongly towards indisputable facts.

If we are awful with the lowest numbers in the EU, how would you describe Croatia’s numbers?

Just to clarify who NPHET are once again - the MoH creates it as required. They are not a statutory body and are only there to give advice. If Donnelly wanted he could dissolve it tomorrow. Once this is over they'll all go back to their day jobs.

A comforting thought to luxuriate in. Question is whether certain members of the public will return to their day jobs after the damage NPHET and the Government have inflicted.

Forcing them to produce food onsite is bollix. MM clearly spoke about the 'different dynamic' of having a meal vs just pints. But no journalist asks him to justify this rule. Sure, it'll reduce number of pubs opening, but public buy in is got from logical and fair rules, not crap like this.

Would be political suicide for him.

    People are hooked on NPHET.

Journalist Richard Chambers playing dumb or unaware of the 7,14 day averages, daily positive swab counts etc?

If you hire someone to give advice you expect it to be confidential, while we need transparency and obviously the two don't go together, NPHET are going too far with the media game

I think the Cabinet sub-committee is the best thing the government has done in relation to this but I'd agree they have developed "notions" over the nine months about how important they are. I think they've done a decent job but I wont miss them!

Well people can come together in restaurants or else in people's homes

    One is regulated

    One isn't

    Glynn knows that

It's not an either or. No one is forcing people to have big meet ups in their homes.

You need good ventilation in these settings. Distance is not enough

Socially distanced from other groups. I'd hardly describe it as 'mixing'.

If you don't give people social outlets to meet people then the only option left to them is meeting in homes

Neither needs to be big numbers

The most I've been out with in a restaurant this year is 4 people

    2 couples

Makes sense, only strangers can have it
