IMO it may be prudent to bring restrictions back to January 2nd/3rd.

The growth rate may be too quick for us to handle in January, opening the restaurants may have been a better idea later in the month (8th/9th for example).

You really have an issue with opposing opinion, best to take your concerns to a Mod. I 'm done responding to you.
You really need to read your posts back. You come across as attacking others and acting like they are beneath you quite regularly. Maybe you don't mean to but I think lots would agree that you do.
You come across as if it's your way or the highway, nobody else has an important opinion. That's my take of many of your posts anyways.

I am so depressed at the lastest increase in figures. I thought the six weeks would have got us thru Xmas.

It will be 3 months tomorrow since Dubliners have not been able to leave the county.

I never wish my life away, however I wish I could fast forward to June. I suspect that the next Ten weeks are going to be the worst of this pandemic

Yep, but he's on the same hymn sheet they are all on - minimise contacts as far as possible over Christmas.

Yes, until we die. You seem to have an issue with death.

Well i fully expect myself the 2 kids and possibly my parents to be joining the list of new cases whenever the HSE get the finger out and give us a test

Weve all know since Monday we are close contacts they texted us on Tuesday morning and still nothing,
Iv rang them a couple of time but absolutely no joy in getting anywhere

I suppose as long as none of us are unwell then it doesnt really matter does itb

You can get tested to soon after contact? When did your wife get symptoms? When were your parents in contact? There is little value in testing within 5 days.

Restrictions before Xmas should be a matter of national importance now. Xmas can wait until next year.

Is there meant to be a NPHET briefing tonight?

They are meant to test close contacts at day zero (confirmed case day) and day 7 (7 days after the last close contact).

Xmas can wait until next year lol

It can't wait for many many in this country who it will be the last one with loved ones

You can't get a last one back and I'm certainly going visiting relatives just in case no matter what the government or NPHET say

Schools closing for two weeks will help. No need for restrictions

I'm speaking the truth. In my honest opinion it's what's best for the national interest.

We can't let this virus get away from us when we are so close to the finishing line.

As opposed to the normally joyful and upbeat George lee ? Ive had enough doom and gloom to last a lifetime this week. Im going to continue to do what I’ve done since March which is stick to the rules and I know those rules are there for a reason but they made burying my grandmother this week even more bizarre than it normally would be. The no removal and then 25 people in a church which can hold a couple of hundred was bizarre and at times it felt like it wasn’t a funeral. So have another lockdown for all I care lads because clearly some in the media want it so let them have it because they won’t he happy until we are in perpetual lockdown.

    NI proposed restrictions.

    Essentially a curfew

    https://twitter.com/Tracey_utv/status/1339623701369810946?s=19

Do curfews even have any effect? Like of all the new restrictions used in 2020 this seems the most pointless like it doesn't even ensure reduced or limited social distancing as peple could just follow curfew while mixing in houses etc.
Curfews in Iranian and French cities seemed to have no appreciable impact and were all followed by lockdown or much harsher restrictions as they were not effective enough. Seems like a smoke screen to just be seen to do be doing 'something'.

In 7 days we could be back where we were at its worst in Oct/Nov. By Christmas eve.

If today we were to implement new harsh restrictions and get buy in from the public for them, then we'd see growth continue for another 10 to 14 days.
That would leave us in a considerably worse position than the recent wave.

If we leave this until January 6th or whatever date you like, then we could be looking at a disaster.

I may be getting ahead of myself, by a day or two, but the recent swab data is giving us a pretty strong signal that we may already be riddled with virus

    You probably are

Thought there was one on a Wednesday. I no longer watch them. Martin is going to be on in a bit anyway.
