I see New Ross has overtaken Carndonagh as the most riddled LEA. I think it's a while since it's been off the top spot.

Can see the surrounding LEA's increase with it as well.

Did they say that? Surprising considering we will have 41k vaccines in the country by next week and nursing home patient population is 24k. I would have thought we will have all the first doses done by the end of the first week of January.

According to the article in the Irish Times the nursing homes rollout won't start until the 11th January and will take an absolute age to get done. Inexcusable delays.

Dublin LEA numbers for 14 day period 8th December to 21st December

Nursing homes present logistical challenges that won’t be there if we’re using mass vaccination centres, similar to what we’ve seen in the UK. The challenges are exacerbated by the cold chain requirements of the Pfizer vaccine.

I would hope that it means we’re going to do the first few groups in parallel rather than sequentially and that while nursing homes are being done the vaccine is also being rolled out to Groups 2 and beyond in parallel.

Only found out there this afternoon of the two family members I have working in hospitals in Dublin. One is going to be moved to carrying out vacinations, she's going to get it on the 30th or 31st, will be confirmed in the coming days. The other has been told to expect an appointment in work within the first 2 weeks of January.

    9-5?

I can only presume that that's a malicious rumour. Because that is a very inadequate response.

Well they're wrong. I know somebody who had been told they are scheduled to receive the vaccine on 30th December.

Discussion is around this article focusing on nursing homes:
    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/health/covid-19-vaccine-rollout-in-nursing-homes-to-begin-on-january-11th-1.4445297

"The nationwide rollout of the HSE’s plan to immunise care homes would begin on January 11th, it said."

"Smaller nursing homes with 30 residents or less will require one team of four vaccinators, with all doses delivered in one day. Larger facilities with more than 120 residents would take three days to deliver the vaccine."

"Tadhg Daly, NHI chief executive, said the representative group had expected the vaccine rollout to nursing homes to start closer to the end of December."

    922 Cases, 8 Deaths.

Reported at the time swab counts is normally published. I presume it will be reported early again tomorrow. Some amount of testing in the last 48 hours (over 40k) that's more than some weekly testing in the spring.

They will but unfortunately we will see numbers rising for another 10 days at least before the restrictions bring them down again. Hopefully the rate of increase moderates but at the moment it looks like we could hit 2500 - 3000 cases before they start to fall.

22,775 swabs tested in the last 24 hours

The numbers are not too concerning considering the level of testing.

Demand for tests will drop after Christmas now and January is historically a quiet month.

    We really don’t need lockdown.

How? If it's only at 900 odd now and the restrictions kick in soon? Just the lag between infection and diagnosis?

TBH I was expecting worse, I wonder if our nearest neighbour will find some way of having no figures released tomorrow as they are likely to hit 70,000 deaths.

22 are currently in ICU, last time the ICU figure was so low?
