Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Ferrari is quick today. Shame we lost LEC. He could have had a good day.

Podium for Danny today. I can feel it.

    Good fun so far.

Max was so cautious and still binned it in his own. What a strange crash. This could be a great race at the front and for third now.

In fairness he had to avoid Perez and he didn't really have anywhere to go on the outside except for the gravel

    Ric or Torpedo?

Most likely he didn't realize there was gravel there. Not many other ways he could go, tbh, except stomp in the brakes. Which could be a whole other problem with the whole field close by.
He seemed to let the car run on after missing the turn-in point, as if he was just going to run wide onto tarmac.

While this is true, I think it does George a disservice. He is top tier. As quick as anybody out there.

Perez one to keep an eye on, cruising through the field so far.

Perez catching the man who's seat he wants to nick having just passed the man who has nicked his own seat

This will get exciting when all the lapping and pit stops kick in. The strategy guys will earn their money today.

No denying he is a talented driver, he has a very good record before he got to f1

Bottas losing pace to Russell is such a bad look for him.

George is doing two things right now. Making a mockery of BOT and shaving a few million off HAM contract fee for next year. If he wins this, which he might very well do, it really takes a lot of the negotiating power away from HAM.

The hatred for Bottas by some here is laughable. He didn't get a good start again. How many times has Verstappen also not had good starts but nothing's said about him.

I really hope Bottas wins now and shows you guys up.

He's up against someone who jumped into the car this weekend. Squeaking a win through strategy (I've a feeling he'll be favoured with the under/overcut) doesn't suggest he's anything but an incredibly mediocre driver at this level.

Russell is flying out there. Really impressive so far.

Or that Russell is a supreme talent, which he is.

Did Perez not come out in 18th after that pitstop? He is already in 11th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,257 ✭✭✭✭flazio

If Perez gets past Albon, could turn tasty for Norris. McLaren need to extend over Racing Point

I like Bottas too, thought he was great at Williams. He's just not as moany or vocal about things as most other drivers when things go wrong. Certainly nothing to hate about him imo.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Fantastic from Perez on Albon there, he is flying.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

That was a lovely move from Perez on Albon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,330 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

How does Perez not have a seat for next year?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,257 ✭✭✭✭flazio

Has Perez won the position and the seat?

Albon is in the ejector seat for sure, but unlikely that PER will get that seat.

Stroll doing well as the pink ham in the white Alpha Tauri sandwich.

Wouldn't be an F1 race without a slow Ferrari pitstop.

If Russell wins today it makes Hamilton look less important than he was before this race. Some fella showing up from the back of the grid this weekend and leading the race.

Russel is very impressive but this shines a light on the difference the car can make and diminishes Hamilton’s achievements to date.

I swear Latifi is always among the fastest in the speed trap.

It’s clear he has raw speed, just not a whole lot else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,330 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Not that it's news, but that Mercedes is a beast of a car.

See this is a narrative I don’t like. People are using Russell to diminish Bottas, and in turn Hamilton.

It takes a top tier talent to do what Russell has been doing despite the obvious physical disadvantages he has in that car.

Or maybe it announces Russell as Lewis material. How many times has he dragged the Williams into Q2 this year?

I'm enjoying this race. Not sure how much of it is the track layout or the number of unknown factors in play but it's a nice end of season flourish.

Indeed. People forget that RUS is both a GP3 and GP2 champion. He is a serious racer. He has been languishing in a Williams at the back for too long.

Latifi keeping up with the midfield today and the previous two weekends suggests that the Williams isn't as bad as people think it is. I wouldn't say George is some sort of Hamilton-esque talent based on his Williams performances - he rarely has good Sundays.
