What do you expect from Unionist politicians in their eighties? Himself and Taylor should be put out to pasture.

I genuinely thought both of them were dead till quite recently.

What way is that seat belt on him?

First they came for the socialists...

20 years ago I was at a 6 nations game in Landsdowne Road, McGinnis and his wife were sitting right behind me with plenty of his buddies around us so it was hard not to hear the banter between them, no shortage of homophobic and misogynistic remarks from him so I'm not remotely surprised. He's nothing but a knuckle dragging Neanderthal.

That's no seat-belt. Its clearly the tentacle of a black satanic Sinn Féin octopus hiding in the back seat as it readies itself to throttle him.

Old people living longer is great ‘nall, but they shouldn’t be working in important positions once they’re too out of touch.

Old people have too much influence in this world which they generally don’t understand. He’s just meddling in the House of Lords.

Shocked that this has not been taken up by the usual suspects (Michael Martin, the Indo, Michael McDowell, Eoghan Harris and their lackies on here).

Unlikely we'll see Harris mention it. He has, after all, essentially being writing the same column for the last 20 years.

I'm still baffled by how he gets away with it

In fairness Ken Maginnis wasn''t the worst of them back in the day. At least he used to come down to Dublin fro the rugby, unlike some of his ilk who wouldn't be seen dead in the "Free State".

Entirely unsurprising from my experiences with the man.

Yes it was great that he spread the love across the border

No great revelations unfortunately, just that I grew up in Fermanagh, he was an MP for Fermanagh/South Tyrone for many years and I have had quite a few interactions with him. He's well known for this kind of thing locally, few anecdotal stories well known on his attitude towards serving staff and the likes. As I said in another thread, argumentative and opinionated would be a kind description of him, a strong leaning towards the belligerent, and his homophobic views are certainly well documented.

Yeah I know. I was being sarcastic. Interesting that the likes of Harris while making a living from slagging of Irish nationalism and turning a blind eye to the deficiencies in loyalist culture, choose to remain in the 26 Counties and not live in loyalist areas up north . But it would be too much for the likes of them to show any consistency.

In fairness to Harris, the oxygen of publicity is what he thrives on. As long as he is talked about in any way he is doing his job.

An 18 month suspension, according to The Irish Times.

At his age (83) he might struggle to make a comeback.

He's actually paranoid there's legions of priapic homosexual men who fantasise about getting their evil way with him? :pac::pac:

Mind you, a lot of his ilk do think the world was created 6,000 years ago.

Well, he was a B Special and UDR member so I'd argue that he was a bit of a bollix back in the day.

You'll notice one of the names on the list who voted against suspending him. Aul Lord John could've been well in his cups though.
