Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just worried about the numbers in the county. Is it stemming from anything in particular. Seems a massive difference between north and south of the county

Believe National Pen had something of an outbreak in the last couple of weeks

If the entire country was tested tomorrow most of us would come up positive. Covid-19 has been around the world in 2019 well before lockdowns began. The horse had already bolted. It's nothing worse than a severe seasonal influenza despite the media selling it as the ebola virus.

Can I interest you in a nice tinfoil hat?

We didn't test the entire country this week, BUT, we did test 75,305 people. 2.5% came back positive meaning 97.5% were negative.

Your post is nonsense (but I suspect you already know that!).

National Pen as already said and I think there were some cases in St John of Gods in Drumcar too.

But we see it coming across the border, simple as that. I really dont understand how there are still so many northern reg cars in Dundalk every day. Are they all working here?

They're probably living here, cheaper tax and insurance if you can leave the car on UK plates.

Some might even be employed by UK companies, I know a few lads with UK registered company vehicles.

Not all. A lot of these lads are from Cross, you see them spinning around in their 5 series BMW with the tinted windows.

    Louth today

    TLDR:

    Quote:

86 of the infections are in Dublin, 41 in Louth, 34 in Donegal, 25 in Limerick and 17 in Kildare.

Is there a problem with Northerners coming across the border? I wasn't aware of any restrictions... I was in Newry and Belfast and also full of Southern cars....

Really? I had the understanding that these restrictions have been lifted, can you confirm or show evidence that leaving your county is still currently prohibited?

Confirm or show evidence? I wasnt aware this was a courtroom

But here is a link to the government website which details all current restrictions

    https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/ad569-level-3/

You can see there in fairly clear writing:

Travel outside your county - NO

You can do so from tomorrow

The OP asked why are there so many cases in Louth? This is why. Because people cannot be bothered to either read the guidelines correctly, look them up in the first place or think they don't apply to them

Even if we were allowed to leave the county, not a chance I'd be going near the North right now. Their numbers, adjusted for population size, are nearly 2.5x times ours. We really shouldn't need the government telling us not to be going. It should be self-evident that heading up North right now is a stupidly risky move to make, especially this close to Xmas.

so has there been any big outbreaks in Louth, id imagine to be a Louth stat you need to have an address in Louth. Seems weve been in top bracket fairly consistantly for the past few weeks

McCluskeys Bakery in Drogheda had 12 supposedly.

If you live in a large County Cork,Kerry for instance.I think 30 miles either side of your address nwes is fine.
I live on the Louth/Armagh border. What the fuq do i do? That ^^^^^
I'm following guidelines to the hilt.

Louth is a border county, lots of people travel from the north through Louth or into Louth for work and Louth people travel to work in the North.
Louth people travel to Dublin for work & family and vice versa.
Louth has specialised schools that cater for kids from different counties & areas like Dublin.
Louths a hot spot, a commuter county & being so close to Dublin & North theres lots of travel between both areas.

According to HSE's Covid Tracker app, the hotspots within Louth seems to be Ardee wiht a rate of 454.2 cases per 100k people (Ardee only have a population of 25k, 115 confirmed cases).

    Electoral Area|Confirmed Cases|Rate per 100k pop|Population
    Ardee|115|454.2|25,317
    Drogheda Rural|78|436.3|17,876
    Drogheda Urban|99|358|27,656
    Dundalk South|131|403.9|32,436
    Dundalk-Carlingford|65|253.9|25,599

I guess it's accepted now that it's (once again) going to get worse before it gets better.

    Stay safe everyone!

The Ardee electoral area covers most of mid-Louth, not just the area around the town. The breakdown by LEA over the Christmas and New year period will be scary!

The information on the app looks to be well out of date. The 14 day incident rate in Louth is 1,031.2 per 100,000. The highest electoral incident rate on the app is Ardee at 454.2. Horrible numbers!!

The app is updated once a week on Thursdays, with data for 2 weeks to the previous Monday.

The numbers are rough all right - 1% of the county's population tested positive over the past 2 weeks.

It's now over 2%. Any info on vaccine rollout in the hospitals? A Dublin-based friend tells me they know a nurse in the Lourdes who hasn't been vaccinated yet (while almost all staff in St. Vincent's are done)
