I guess using a 3rd party like MyGermany or Mailboxde.

Don't forget you can use midnight shipping - https://www.mindfactory.de/info_center.php/icID/16
Free local DHL Shipping if ordered after midnight.

Just bought some upgrades from Octo IT, aka Octo24.com. Haven't seen it discussed here, but came across it through the geizhals.eu search engine. Was able to order a bunch of components with delivery to Ireland for €20, and they automatically took off VAT for a company purchase as well.

Marginally more expensive than Caseking and Mindfactory but less hassle to deal with, so far at least. They responded very quickly to my email query about VAT prior to ordering.

To be clear on this, tray means CPU only. No heatsink and technically, no warranty with AMD(still the retailers problem though).

    Oddly the same price.

My OCUK order arrived in Ireland this morning and I got a a text from DHL to pay the Duty/VAT. Entered the Link on my PC and didn't click the text link. I'm not Paranoid, It's just I'm starting to need reading glasses at my age but stubbornly haven't bought any yet :D Don't want to be squinting at my phone screen.

Amount due was €188. Vat exempt GBP amount converted to Euro was €723 x 23% = €166 so that means €22 in Duty and/or DHL Admin Fee.

    ETA Wednesday.

Perhaps the mods could sticky a new thread with a list of options currently available to Ireland? I used to buy all my PC hardware and components from Scan, obviously at least for the time being that's no longer an option unless they start shipping to Ireland again and/or work out how to exclude UK VAT so that we would just pay Irish VAT on the import. Here is my list of sites that I've seen you can order directly from (i.e. excluding those sites that only ship to their own country and you have to use a freight forwarder). I'm also excluding Amazon because they don't have an Irish website and much of their "inventory" is 3rd party stores each with their own terms and conditions. To the credit of other posters here, some of the shops below I first read about on this forum - especially the manufacturers brand stores.

Shops that sell directly to Ireland without issue:
https://www.memoryc.ie - MemoryC has a wide variety of components to sell.
https://www.komplett.ie - Komplett's Irish operation is still around, but these days their range is very limited. Still, might be an option in some cases.
https://www.amd.com/en/direct-buy/ie - AMD's webshop with Irish pricing. Under normal circumstances you could buy CPUs and GPUs directly from AMD.
https://shop.westerndigital.com/en-ie - Western Digital's brand store. They sell their hard drives, SSDs and other flash memory devices directly and have an Irish storefront.
https://www.caseking.de/en - CaseKing is a German outfit, but they offer an English language website and so far as I know, they don't have any problems shipping outside of Germany.
https://www.currys.ie/ - A general electronics chain that doesn't specialise in PC components. But they have a limited selection of PC components and may be an option in some cases.

Shops that sell to Ireland with minor issues:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk - OverClockers still sells to Ireland, but you have to order by phone.

Just received my Overclockers order this morning. Everything present and accounted for in the box including the mandatory funsize packs of Haribo's :D:D

I've ordered several hundred euro worth of PC related stuff from amazon.co.uk over the last few days. As long as its all Amazon fulfilled/Prime no worries about Vat/customs/delivery to my address. In fact most of it originated in Swords according to the tracking with next day delivery so it looks like the Post Brexit Irish Amazon fulfillment center is already up and running which I didn't realise. I've been surprised at some of the niche parts that they had in stock in the Irish warehouse tbh.

They don't have any stock in Ireland. Swords is just where the customs processing is done remotely. If you check the origin fulfillment centre code on the parcels it will likely say MAN, MME, LCY etc.

Amazon charge Irish VAT at the point of purchase and have for years. Anything fulfilled by Amazon under 150 Euro won’t have any custom charges (some goods regardless won’t have customs charges but no point getting into every exception here) whatsoever no matter what and for at least until July anything below 22 Euro won’t have UK or Irish VAT charged.

    Update for Overclockers.co.uk

As posted earlier my large order done over the phone last week arrived quickly and as excpected with DHL texting me to pay Vat bill before delivery as expected.

I just ordered a lian li Strimmer Plus RGB 24 pin power cable and clicked through to the end on the site. No warning about, “not selectable for this address’. It Let me pay zero Tax with a note that receiver pays tax and shipping was preselected as DHL Express Worldwide. ie order went through fine for zero Uk vat fully online. (Logged into my ocerclocker.co.uk account of course)

Christ above Amazon is becoming some pain in the arse to try to get components off of, half the stuff on Amazon UK is stocked by Amazon EU who don't ship to Ireland for some reason and half the stuff on Amazon DE is from Amazon UK. And that's not even touching the processors on both from Amazon US who likewise don't ship to Ireland.

  • Registered Users Posts: 602 ✭✭✭Aodhan5000

What have you been looking for because majority of stuff I've been looking at has been grand? Amazon EU almost always able to ship to me just for what can be a hefty delivery charge at times although I do see some US sellers over there at times

Processors and motherboards mostly but this CPU cooler caught my eye yesterday and it annoyed me that it doesn't dispatch to Ireland despite being sold by Amazon EU.

I'd a BeQuiet 500DX in my basket from Amazon.de, sold and fulfilled by them, no issue with the Irish address on the product page. Went to pay for it, and other items, bang, can't deliver it here. Emailed them & got a reply of waffle back...it's an empty metal box, they made out as if it's filled with batteries and gunpowder.

Yup I've had that one too, honestly it's really only the (relative) ease of customer support/return (I'm assuming Amazon Germany would use the Irish depot same as Amazon UK) and being able to buy everything from one seller gears me towards them.

I'd buy off Mindfactory but I figure the transport costs would end up eating most of the savings and then you're caught if something arrives DoA/you need to exercise a warranty return.

Does anyone know where the best place to buy a PC Case in Ireland is?
I'm trying to upgrade from the shoddy CIT one I have to a good one, I already know where to look in UK/Europe but I'd want to get it as soon as possible.
