Does anyone know where the best place to buy a PC Case in Ireland is?
I'm trying to upgrade from the shoddy CIT one I have to a good one, I already know where to look in UK/Europe but I'd want to get it as soon as possible.

Have a look on MaxBurns and Elara

MemoryC have a few good ones, too.

Anyone know if you ordered a few components off Mindfactory together whether they'd all be put in one bigger box or separately if I wanted to use a forwarding service?

I ordered a prebuilt 5900x/3080 from CSL Computers on the 12th of April and it was delivered today. Much better value than PC Specialist (with far shorter lead times to boot) for the same specs and none of the propriety nonsense of Dell.

I was just about to ask if there was any good prebuilt alternatives to AWD and Palicomp in the UK.
I often see prebuilt builds which cost the same as the sum of the parts posted on HotUKDeals.
A friend of mine is doing a budget friendly build for his son.

Must have a look at CSL

You had me worried there for a moment about my PC Specialist build. Specced up the same PC on CSL and it was a few hundred more expensive than PCS for me.

That said, 15 days for a 5900x with RTX3080 is incredible. The average wait on PCS for a 3080 build is about 4 months!!

CSL is weird in that the prices seem to be tied to the base unit listing even though most everything is configurable. Even the link I used to order mine from has changed significantly in two weeks, with the pricing both being higher and it forcing me to choose a drive when it didn't when I went through it.

Mind linking your CSL build? Here's one I'm considering: https://www.csl-computer.com/k/w997h8UO

My order (19/04) arrived today through DHL. It took them a couple of days to ship once I'd ordered, but other than that smooth sailing.

Just bought some upgrades from Octo IT, aka Octo24.com. Haven't seen it discussed here, but came across it through the geizhals.eu search engine. Was able to order a bunch of components with delivery to Ireland for €20, and they automatically took off VAT for a company purchase as well.

Marginally more expensive than Caseking and Mindfactory but less hassle to deal with, so far at least. They responded very quickly to my email query about VAT prior to ordering.

Actually I found the exact one: https://www.csl-computer.com/aufruest-pc-949-amd-ryzen-9-5900x.html/

I spec'ed out the parts I got and they were pretty much cost or even a little under cost in a few places on CSL so I felt comfortable going with them in the current market.

Just submitted an order over the Phone to OCUK.

What I did before phoning was Compose an email with my Billing Address and Eircode, my delivery address and Eircode (because its different from billing) and an attached PDF order/pricelist from OCUK. This is to eliminate any chance of mis-heard or mis-spelled important details for the order if trying to relay them over the phone.

Logged into my OCUK account, I generated this order/pricelist by adding everything including quantities into my basket. The Basket will say 'Cant's deliver to selected address'. However, down the bottom there is a link to a PDF version of the Basket. I saved this and then attached it to the email. I then rang OCUK, clicked 1 for Sales, only waited about 4 minutes on hold on Friday afternoon, explained to the Sales CSA that I was an Irish customer who needs to phone in my orders to avail of VAT exempt DHL shipping to Ireland. I asked for his direct email address and sent him the pre-composed email immediately. 2 minutes while he setup the order and typed everything in and then he took my VISA details and JOB DONE. DHL shipping for my 360mm AIO, 3x Triple QL120 Fan packs, Lian Li Strimer Plus Triple 8pin, Corsair Commander Pro and a few other small bits (detailed so you can visualise the size of the box) was about GBP£18. I of course pay Irish VAT and any Customs duties and DHL handling fee on my end when DHL deliver/are about to deliver the goods.

While the CSA did start to say I could have submitted the order on the website and then just rang OCUK with the order number to arrange the VAT exempt DHL shipping to Ireland, I had taken the big red warning on the basket/order page about not being able to ship to the selected address as my cue to proceed no further into the online order process, so I never got to the point of getting an order number from the website.

If anyone else has recently ordered from OCUK and did it the way the CSA started to describe to me then it would be helpful if they posted it here to inform others.

The way the CSA started to describe it, it may have potentially been a quicker method of ordering for an Irish customer. However, once I was connected to the CSA the whole process only took about 3 minutes anyway. Even a prepared order with actual order number still necessitates phoning OCUK and being on hold for an indeterminate amount of time (only 4 minutes in my case though). Its the hold time that will be the longest time anyway, not calling out the Order number to the CSA or in my case sending the CSA my prepared email.

    Hope this info helps others.

If you wait a little it will load in my config. Wanted your opinion on the changes I made and would like to see how you customised it, too. There's a save feature that'll give you a link. The customisations just take a moment to load.

OK. Now I'm jealous. Fantastic price and getting it so quick too!! Same price for similar parts as PCSpecialist, the difference being you getting it in literally days rather than the months for a 3080 build from PCS. I only went for the much more expensive 3090 because of the 4 month waiting list for 3080's at PCS and thought there was nowhere that would have them any sooner either.

    Well Done and Congrats!!

Looking at OCUK they have an Ireland option for DHL shipping when you get to basket. Anyone know if Customs charges would be included in the shipping total?

there should not be custom charges as the rate is 0% on pc components but looking at items that have been added to cart they do not include vat so expect 21% of total price including delivery to charged by DHL.

I got a reply back from OCUK. DHL would invoice me for VAT and customs charges on top of the 20euro shipping. That won't be happening anyway. :pac:

And charge you a 15 quid handling fee for the pleasure of doing it too.

Does that depend on what you have in your basket? I don't see that option and I have a 5600x and an X570 tomahawk motherboard in my basket.

PCS won't let me continue unless I select a GPU and CSL similarly doesn't allow non-seleciton of a GPU

Doesn't allow to proceed then. And the PSU notice comes up no matter what config.

I believe you can ignore that and still click proceed. I remember when I was ordering...and amending...and amending (Each amendment adding more €€€ :D ) I'd often try to select stuff that gave no configurator warnings because like you I thought you couldn't click past them until they were cleared. There are certainly some that can't be clicked past and the configurator wont let you but there where definitely a few were it turned out I was able to ignore and click past. It would be very unusual for the configurator to give us the option of 'No GPU, I have my own' but then not let you order without a GPU.

The PSU warning can definitely ignored otherwise I would still have been in a catch 22 with my order. When I'd try and proceed with a 750w PSU it'd warn me I should pick a 800w and when I'd pick an 850w because they didn't have an 800w it'd tell me I only needed an 800w. ie. a warning either way. In your case Its warning you that you've overspecced the PSU based on the power requirements of the PC without a GPU but of course you know there will ultimately be a GPU in there and tbh the configurator should know that too given you've selected, 'No GPU, I have my own'. The scripting/logic or whatever of the configurator could do with a tweak.

Has anyone ordered from Overclockers in the last few weeks, I’m tempted by the RX 6800 XTs that they have.

Well for all us "covid component shortage" complainers, we have an update...
Gpu shipments were massively up year on year for q1. Traditionally volumes drop after Q4 but not this year. So manufacturers produced more silicon by a huge margin but it still wasn't enough!

Am I right in saying you can now order online from Overclockers? I thought it was phone only for the Irish?

    Is this a good deal?

    Ryzen 5 5600X £207.49

MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WiFi £183.29

    £390.78

    Delivery £18.43

    Total: £409.21 (€475 approx)

Plus whatever customs choose to apply to it
