Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No Yellow for Thiago? Ref is an away fan

Salah seems to have lost his stickability. Far too easy to rob and the Utd out ball to Rashord is far too straightfoward.

Even when he scores a great goal you just stay quiet until he has a bad touch again :p

Yeah Salah or Mane have never gone down easily.

Yeah, shur don’t you see Henderson telling them to take a dive every time someone’s touches them in the penalty area? Wait, what? Oh, it was Pogba instructing his team to cheat....now I remember!!

Quite a few easy headers allowed in our box.

Was eating my tea TAA has to be alert to being by passed

TAA needs to hold the line a bit Rashford getting far to much space down that side

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

For Uniteds goal, Salah chased after Rashford, got ahead of him, and then stood ten yards off him with zero intent to close him down.

Not sure what he was at tbh. Bit infuriating

    More diving from United

agreed, just stood off him zero pressure, couldn't have predicted that pass though.

Just overhit from Milner to Robbo. Otherwise that would have been a goal.

We can't compete aerially with this team, best we can do is force their headers to come from 12+ yards out instead of from good goal scoring areas.

    Nice by Milner again.

Why the **** is Trent passing the ball to Alisson's left foot??????????

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

At least Greenwood went down having been actually touched.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Thiago in the right place.

Indeed, pretty embarrassing effort at cheating from Beek earlier.

Our right side is so open poor Trent is defending it on hos own,
Salah just keeps giving Shaw the ball and letting him run free

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 628 ✭✭✭poppers

Anyone got stats on the conversation rates for direct free kicks scored
D say 1 in 20 would be generous

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,791 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Jasus if Klopp doesn't address the right hand side of defense I can see UTD getting another 2 down it...

    Williams is terrible.

Twice William's has gone to ground and not won the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,931 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Williams makes a mess of it and Fab shows him what to do, just stay standing and force him away from goal

And he’s as slow as a wet week. Hard to fix that.

Would genuinely rather Milner in there, he has not even won the headers we hoped he would against their bigger side from set pieces.

Rhys Williams is not very good sadly. At least not at this stage of his career.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

The issue is obvious from a defensive point of view.

Teams are beating our first press too easily. Any back 4 would struggle if you commit people to a press and it gets beaten routinely.

In trouble down the right. Is it Gini that's supposed to be covering that side? Milner there after the break, let him throw himself around a bit and close Rash ford down, kick him a few times.
We're too nice, not cynical enough on the United breaks.

Whole season basically depends on Matip staying fit. Crazy how the club are taking a chance on that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,976 ✭✭✭doc_17

Milner should probably be taken off. And Williams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

The problem isn't our defence. Well... Mostly

The real problem is that our midfield is too comfortable with letting teams run passed us. It also doesn't help that our RB can't be arsed defending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,880 ✭✭✭✭klose

Williams being shown up pretty badly here.

Most of their chances have come from someone else losing the ball while Trent is way up the pitch where he's told to be, hardly his fault that we give it away while he's up the pitch following instructions. The right sided CM is suppose to cover in those scenarios, usually it's Henderson, right now it's supposed to be Gini but seems to be no one.

He takes so long to get down it seems.
Both times they were comfortably his too.

TAA much improved, it has to be said even his demeanour is better.

I wouldn't say that but it kills me that so many teams just have to knock the ball over the defence and they are in.

I fancy us to push on and win mind.

Need Hendo back in midfield. Too easy to run past in there at the moment.

    5 changes at HT then.

TAA being highlighted on bbc. Its not hard to drop back a bit a show players outside with some effort.

I think it's safe to say he'll never be good enough for this level.

Far too slow, whatever about everything else.

Badly miss Henderson and Fabinho in Midfield.

As long as Matip is fit I'd rather we just play him alongside one of the kids and let those two play midfield again. To me the best winning strategy is to play as many of your players in their best positions as possible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,912 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Gini looks bollixed and his passing is effected as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    Trent is pointless right now.

It's no wonder the Trent/Williams axis is being targeted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,398 ✭✭✭facehugger99

Williams mightn't be having his best game but he's constantly having to deal with Rashford having the freedom of the pitch to run fill tilt at him.

One of the midfield have to slot in on the right when Trent goes forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,791 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Jasus thats optimism....i fancy us to lose by 2 if we keep this up!!! Literally every attack utd have looks threatening because we can't defend a simple counter...the most basic passes beyond our midfield cause us problems!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,912 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

TAA isn’t giving Williams any help at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Absolutely. Full backs especially miss how they cover the flanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Rashford is just standing out of the left wing in midfield. Nobody within 20 yards of him most of the time.

That's a management/tatic problem. The world and its mother knows UTD are a seriously effective counter attacking side but we just play into their hands everytime...going 1up should have been a blessing for us!!
