Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Klopp is emotional, love that guy. He is like the father I never had.

    He's an actual leader.

I think he feels properly responsible that the team hasn't been at it, despite the lack of CBs. I think he is massively relieved and proud that he's gotten a proper tune out of them again tonight.

I think William's is more comfortable with the ball at his feet, playing out from the back, which Klopp likes.

Maybe Williams is more comfortable on the ball, but I've not seen anything from Philips to suggest that he gets Adrian-level sh!ts when the ball is played to him.

Apparently Matip injury is relatively serious.

A week ago we had comments saying we should forget about catching United and just try to stay in the top 4, then they lose at home to one of history's worst Premier League teams and we beat Spurs away. Absolutely no point making such statements with 18 games remaining, that's 54 points to be earned between now and the end.

Matip injury serious according to Klopp. Yikes.

Militao on loan surely has to be done now.

Jesus Matip. A serious one too so that could be his season over again. :(

I wonder if the injury came from the tangle with Kane, his leg stretch in a funny looking way when he fell.

    When does the window close?

Something has to be done now...

The 3 CBs we came into the season with. All injured.

    Lol.

The league should be embarrassed if we even come second.

February 2nd for the window closing.

Have to have to have to bring in a CB. Get it done. This could be the difference.

Phillips has to start over Williams for me if we don’t sign a centre half in the window

And the emergency CB on top of that.

Is Klopp hinting as a signing? He clearly wants someone in.

if we do win it this year, next year we should try winning it without any goalies

It helps that we went ahead against Spurs and them playing at home. They are under pressure to go forward and can't play 5-4-1 or 5-5-0 like other teams. We have difficulty breaking down those systems.

They played 5 at the back tonight?

We want someone better than Philips/Williams and better than a midfielder. It can't be that hard to find even a short term option.

In a weird way a serious injury to Matip could be a good thing for force the owners hand to get a CB.

It is a shame Matip is injury prone. Because for me he is the 3rd best CB in the league when fit.

Klopp's Liverpool are the first-ever side to win four consecutive league games against a team managed by Jose Mourinho

Question: why isn't Nat Phillips starting?

Last time he played everyone said he wasn't good enough. Lots of people said "For me, Williams has to start the next game."

Then he didn't play great and everyone said "hendo could do a job at CB alongside fab"

Then Hendo was missed in cm and there's been talk of Gini or milner at CB.

They're all flawed choices. None of them will solve the issues.

Klopp says Matip has suffered ankle ligament damage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,463 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Matip down and out,and most likely will never play for Liverpool again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,924 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Just give Red Bull £100m for there CB's then knock them out of the CL as well.

talkin up Martin Skrtel,, free agent, ideal for Liverpool

This is why I don’t think we will even get someone on a free - Klopp has to really be into a player to sign them, regardless of cost.

BT sports just mentioned that Skirtel is a free agent.

I honestly don't think that I could be comfortable with Martin at CB now that he has hair.

Skrts was the most over rated defender we had when he was here. Spent his entire career making last-ditch tackles. Visually impressive, but usually a sign of a guy who can't read a game for toffee. Plus he wasn't able to deal with an opposition forward who was physically stronger than him.

I dread to think what he'd be like now. I'd sooner try and coax the 47 year old Hyypia out of retirement.

Be really nice if having someone on Ignore meant you also didn't see their Thanks because I'd much rather live in blissful ignorance of the type of sad case celebrating a potential career ending injury.

Well he'd fit right in at the moment unfortunately.

The reason he is a free agent is that he had six months left on his contract and he's just done his ankle ligaments.

Loved watching him play, goal threat also.

I'd forget quality, and just buy someone fast, young, tall, and who has played 3 seasons in a row. Edmond Tapsoba, see it's not difficult. Geez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,340 ✭✭✭PropJoe10

Whats the downside in taking Neven Subotic in on a 6-month contract? Only 32. Free transfer.

It would be negligent not to go into the transfer market now. We have zero senior fit centre-backs at the club.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,729 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Right, let’s put the blip behind us, and get on with winning this league championship.

Neither are good enough for us but at the moment, Phillips is surely the better choice. Williams is too young, inexperienced and lacking in pace.

Who and who. Yes let's do it

Missed the match tonight (work), great to be back to winning ways. I see Matip got injured again and possibly serious too. How did Philips do when he came on?
The club really do need to bring a stopgap CB in at this stage, not to do so would put top 4 at risk.

Would it be worth continuing with Henderson and Philips at CB and putting Fabinho back in midfield when he's fit again?
