Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bobby continuing his form. Him playing like that could be crucial over the next few weeks.

    Delighted for Gini too.

Great backheel from Ox there, but unfortunately Firmino passed it to Wijnaldum instead of shooting so Ox doesn't get the assist, which as we all know means he had no impact.

Jones plays with a maturity beyond his years.

So many young players force things when they come on as a substitute. Jones looks like he will turn into a fabulous player.

Thats really sloppy defending. He ran in there completely un obstructed.

So after all the doom and gloom the last week has been good for Liverpool with 2 games and convincing wins.

It's nice to not be able to give a damn when we concede late on.

    Well obstruction is not allowed.

Good to see Moysie looking so miserable.

Beating Moyes always makes the day a little sweeter.

I said in during the Spurs game and I'll say it again today.

They look like they are having fun again playing football.

A win against Brighton, with Mane & Fab back for City and I’m all of a sudden thinking this title race is far from over!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,398 ✭✭✭facehugger99

If Brighton can get something off Spurs, there's suddenly a bit of a cushion for the Top 4.

2 trips to London in a few days yields 6 points and 6 goals scored
12th different CB partnership this season apparently and Phillips looked very solid.
    Stupendously fantastic second goal today.
    Starting to purr again.

    Good few days of football.

    get in there.

Good few days for The Mighty Reds the league champions

We've been hearing a whole lot about how "yeah Phillips is the better traditional defender but Williams can play with the ball at his feet" but Phillips' passing under pressure today was excellent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

Phillips looks so much more assured on the ball over Williams.

He'd probably struggle against some proper ball playing forwards but against most he'll be fine at that level. I also thought his ball playing out of defence was first rate - a missed a few minutes here and there but it looked as if every pinged ball found its target.

Thought Jones was very good when he came on. Got us moving forward and created the first goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Two great performances back to back. I'd feared the worst after the previous 4/5 games. Beat Brighton and give the City game everything next week.

    Salah is the man.

And Jurgen you can stop worrying about top 4.

Genuinely thought last weekend that we’d be 9 or 10 points behind Man Utd by this evening, with how we were playing and with the fixtures both had since. Been a fantastic week for Liverpool.

    Never doubt them. Great stuff

Really, really good performance in the second half there.

West Ham would have gone ahead of us with a win, and their off the back or 6 wins in a row before this game. Liverpool made it look easy at times in the end, which is super promising.

Wonderful stuff, very convincing. Couldn't fault that performance.

It's crazy to think about it, 4 off City, if we get a result at Anfield, that would be huge, title race is wide open again.

Just 1 point of Man U too. You really have to say Ole bottled it. Could have gone 6 clear and made a serious statement.

    I've already watched Salah's second 50 times.

Hard to find fault with him tbh. Dies the basics well, is no VVD or Koeman on the ball, but still a place for him as a backup in the squad you'd imagine, and a big role to play this season. Way ahead of young Williams, is that bit older of course, but hasn't been found out yet anyway!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

With such a horrible away record this season, that’s two huge away wins in a week.

Hopefully the lads can keep that form up over the next 2 home games now. Things could look very good by then if they do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,528 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

Dare i say it, if matip was fit, play him and phillips and release fab/hendo forward.

There should not be any more hendo/fab cb partnerships if phillips is available

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,289 ✭✭✭✭rob316

That Burnley defeat was rock bottom and we've played with so much freedom since.

Can't wait for next Sunday, as good as City have been they are shocking at anfield, but without fans it might be the perfect time for them.

Philips was excellent but west ham never really tested us, alisson had the easiest game in ages.

Excellent result given the injuries and form of West ham

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,798 ✭✭✭✭DrumSteve

Great result and a great performance.

    Onwards.

One of many highlights there for me, bottom of the screen our captain - and bloody centre half!!! - motoring forward to get on the end of Shaq's cross. What a leader.

I've been saying it for ages, our best players need to play their best positions. Hendo and fab in midfield will provide alot of protection to whoever is in defence.

Get in. Big big result. The boys look to be back. .

In the end, excellent tactics from Klopp. Stodgy first half and tire out West Ham making them run around chasing the 4 midfielders. Then introduced energy in Jones and Bobby and the goals come from there and of course excellent finishing from Mo again.
