Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Think Henderson should have been pushed into midfield with Philips in at CB instead. Davies isn't even on the bench.

He's injured. Out for 2 months.

    That's the strongest possible team.

bit gutted that he didnt start one of the new attackers....City are going for it...

    hopefully we can do it

    That's the strongest possible team.

    I would disagree.
I would say Phillips in defence with Henderson in midfield would be stronger.

    I'll miss Gomez today.

I love him against City, always had the mark on Sterling in particular, put the fear of God into him with a big early tackle at or over the edge, who's going to do it today???

Glad Jones is starting, and of course Mane. Need him stretching the defence. City wil look to bore us to death with keep ball.

Thought Gomez got a bad roasting from Sterling last April or May although Liverpool players were probably still hungover

    MAybe you're right
Klopp doesn't trust Philips it seems, although I've never seen him put a foot wrong, I've only ever seen him do right.

Surprised that injury update didn't get a thank! ;)

    I'm loving our midfield.

Main worry is bench. Nothing on it in way of getting a goal if we need it. Best is Locksmith Luscious Locks, we need a proper No9 on the bench, a Vardy, a Suarez, a Fowler .

City will dominate midfeild huge mistake not starting a ne wlad and having Henderson in the midfeild

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,797 ✭✭✭Enzokk

Couple of things, Laporte not getting a match when him missing last year was the reason they lost the league is funny.

Also, if we do lose Klopp has already sown the doubt by saying City had that Covid break...there is no way to disprove it and if they win it will only enhance Klopp's point. What a way to troll City really.

Going to enjoy this. Nothing getting broken in the house today...
Backs to the wall stuff. Any positive result will be welcome today

Davies I reckon is cover for the cover until VVD & Gomez are back.

It really will be remarkable if we finish top 4 comfortably..even if we beat city they will win the title by 10+ points imo.. far better chance of winning champions League i feel, with one of games a possibility too.

Really looking forward to this as well. Anything could happen.

Not sure it will be a midfield battle. I see an open game, wingbacks, and fast transitions from midfield to forwards.
Of course City could look at the blueprint of Burnley's and Brightons success, and play differently to surprise us. Not Pep#s style to adapt to anyone though.

    Win
    Draw
    Lose

    Hopefully the middle one :)

He is getting a reputation for it at this stage. Needs to box clever.

Making a meal of this. Barely rolled his ankle.

Shocking tackler. 3 mins in and on a yellow already

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,199 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Gundogan lying down made sure Thiago got that yellow

    Soft yellow.

Ederson kicks it to Mane and somehow we end up with the ball back at our GK's feet, sums up our recent lack of incision and aggression going forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,976 ✭✭✭doc_17

Henderson with a big long ball to Mane who is being marked by Stones and Dias...

hate when we let them regroup, instead of trying to hurt them fast when we do win it high up the field.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,479 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Great work by Jenie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

    Gini, that was class

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

    Midfield not dogged enough
We aren't winning the ball back enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,692 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

As each game goes by, I'm liking Thiago less. Really struggling to see what he offers?
I don't think he makes our first 11 over Jordan, Gini or Fab if everyone was fit.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

You can see how one sided Hendo is in CB, I'd nearly switch them

True but Fab is winning a few headers on the other side that I'm not sure Jordan would

Great run by Gini to go 4v4 then stops and let's city get an 8v4.

Same outcome on probably three occasions now.

We play our best when we go full hell for leather.

You can see the fear of getting hit on the break. We're going forward, should be committing, but then play it back, and retreat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

Lung busting run by Gini and then it just dies off..

Amazing run by Gini aaaaaaand back to Ali within 5 seconds...what in the actual fúck

Jones with a great recovery in our own box there, but hasn't been super on the ball.

Mad how much the defensive side of his play has come on for a lad who was billed originally as a number 10 style player.

Playing with the hand brake on here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,479 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    So close, Mane

    Thiago stinking the place out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,393 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Not a great start but decent chance for Mane.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

OOOOOOOOOF, Should have been a goal for Mane. Decent work by TAA to put that across

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,791 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Should be hitting the target from that position.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,406 ✭✭✭facehugger99

Feels like both teams would take a 0-0 right now.

    Terribly frustrating to watch.

We need to be willing to lose this game if we're going to win it.

Sterling throwing himself to the floor lol
