Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Klopp said it after the Palace game '' rather win 7 games 1 Nil, that one game 7-0 ''

    Makes sense now eh .

Liverpool players look absolutely wrecked. Both physically and mentally. Not a good sign with less than half the season gone.

Can't help but feel that Newcastle would have easily gobbled up a couple of the chances we've wasted.

    I'm the opposite on this.

Newcastle's set up is making it very difficult but Liverpool had a few good balls in and with better touches by the front three then it could have been a goal.

    Patience is required here.

Also, don't see what Trent has done wrong, played a fantastic pass earlier.

Trent keeps giving the ball away...his delivery is poor at the moment...its temporary but just missing his usual brilliance

Painfully slow & a real poor reaction to the terrible result against West Brom. Robertson seems to be the only one who.can get into a sprint now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,502 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Ah that was a huge chance for Bobby.

How do people see that a player is "off the pace"?

    From a missed shot?

Never makes sense to me when Mane ran past a defender earlier showing plenty of pace.

Not up with the play, behind the ball when there's a break on, not exploiting all the space that Firmino is making with his running.

If they pick up the pace of their passing this should be an easy win. If they play like that in the second half, a win might not come our way.
    A tough watch so far.

Might be one of those no name keeper has a worldie games.

I think his name is... Jim?

Midfield is painfully slow CB also very slow ar getting us moving
Thaigo for Jones & Shaq for Milner

    OR

Switch Hendo for Nat and bring Thaigo on for Nat and Shaq for Jones,

Our passing in midfield in particular is slow as fúck.

I always expect this when Milner starts, you get graft, commitment but not enough creativity or snappiness in moving the ball as when Gini or Naby play

Hendo has been sloppy so far and Jones very quiet, I'd fire on Ox for Jones and tbh he should be starting ahead of Curtis after the other night

Phillips looks a bag of nerves at the back

Eugh. Was hoping for a goal before HT.

Ox or gini for jones. Thiago for Miller after 15 mins .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

Phillips looks very dodgy apart from in the air.

Final ball has been dreadful tonight. Would be great to see Thiago on second half.

Also hard to know for sure but Philips seems quicker than Rhys Williams to me.

Thought the same about Philips. Similar pace as Williams, if not quicker, and much more aggressive aerially.

How long until we see Thiago

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

Just not happening for us at the moment. Keep working hard and it will.

I think the clip there with Wilson running around a floundering Phillips shows the gulf in quality between maybe an upper-Championship (for the moment at least) calibre defender and the likes of Van Dijk, Matip, Gomez, and even, you'd imagine, the likes of Lovren.

He seems like he's trying to get into a foot race with him, tries to muscle him off the ball when off balance, and just gets made a fool of in general.

I'm not knocking Phillips. He's come in and done well for us, and you can't hold him to the same standards as literally the best CB in the world, but it gives an idea of the dozens of little tricks and subtle bits of understanding that go into being an elite-level CB.

I think Salah should've rounded the keeper. Good, if lucky save though.

He played one of the best passes of the season earlier in the game.

Not all of their moves will come off. You're going to get interceptions and passes that go wrong. All part of the game.

Mane and Salah both look off the pace tonight. Firmino running his bollocks off.

Firmino could have two goals but for bad touches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,480 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Improved in last 20 minutes of that half, at least we played a lot of final balls, not all came off, and some bad finishing , but at least it's positive.

Really not what I'm seeing at all and being that slow just wouldn't be tolerated by Klopp.

    Big 45 mins coming up.

    Poor give away by Jones.

Midfield needs more guile. The lack of creativity is killing us.

Jones just off it the last couple of games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,948 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Bein just had a 6 minute clip of Allardyce talking about the severity of Covid followed by Andy Grey starting the following segment by coughing directly into his hands

I was about to ask why Jones wasn't playing. Looked up the Subs, not there either, then I see him on the team sheet.

    INVISIBLE tonight .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Have to change this midfield. Hendo/Milner/Jones is not working.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,363 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

He can't keep Milner and Jones in there for the next 20 minutes.

One will have to make way if things don't get going.

Hes the one giving the ball away all the time

Felt like a very soft yellow for Fab.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,791 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Trent was clipped by Wilson and no foul given.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 380 ✭✭FluffPiece

Nah fab knew what he was doing, twas a yellow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,090 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Firmino still the only players making runs and trying to be progressive in the attacking side.

If we score at all, I'm sure he will have a hand in it.

6 brits, 3 Brazilians, 1 Senegalese and an Egyptian go to Newcastle.......

That happens against Sadio thrice a game and he never gets a free nevermind a card for the fouler.

Should have happened 10 minutes ago but make a change. Are we waiting for someone to make a mistake or what?

Decent moments here and there but nothing quite coming off.

    Changes needed - soon.

Jones not at it tonight at all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,502 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Wonder how much game time Thiago is limited to? Even playing at 80% he’d be a big improvement on Jones here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

8 days off before West Brom and we’ve come back static and lifeless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

    Jones again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,363 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    This is poor.

Jones with too many touches in the middle. But loads of them a little off.

    Mane making weird decisions.
    Henderson unusually unsure.
    Salah pretty invisible.
    Trent inaccurate.

Fcuking long balls and crosses into 3 big centre halves all game. Desperate stuff

Need Minamino on for Jones. Atleast Taki will run and run, Jones seems to be stuck in second gear and when he gets the ball he loses it trying to play like he's Messi.

    Some stupid passes being played.
Keep it simple and move it faster lads.
    Newcastle actually going for this
