Salah should have won the game for us.

If we could finish we'd have won 0-7

The biggest worry is that the players just don't seem that arsed. Can't get my head around that at all. No urgency, no fight. Very much an air that they are coasting it and they think that coasting it will be enough. We are in a dog fight for this title and I don't know if these lads are prepared for a dog fight.

Why does Klopp canvass for 5 subs when he would never dream of using that many?

I think he wanted them before everyone got injured.

The horse has bolted at this stage.

We simply aren't t good enough this season,

Well then who is? Because we're literally top of the table.

That's made me angrier than the weekend.

    Trent needs dropping.
    Jones has played too much.
Fabinho not at CM has caught up on us.
Salah chooses these last 2 games to lose his focus.
    Mane, where are you?

The biggest issue is the CB position has caught up with us. You simply cannot keep going with the personnel we have there and continue to be an effective unit. It's not just about stopping goals. Newcastle just left Phillips with the ball knowing there was no threat. And you cannot underestimate not having Fabinho in the DM role.

Make no mistake. Newcastle are dogshít. This is worrying, and not only is there a title race, but this league has become a lottery.

If only there was a table of some description where we could quantify games played and points earned in comparison to other teams in England and road-test your post there.

The refusal to except a penalty is so fcking annoying.

YOU HAVE TO GO DOWN FOR IT TO BE GIVING!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭fyfe79

I look forward to Darlow throwing one in next game.

Thiago is awesome - can't wait to see more of him.

Philips looked reasonable enough. Can't blame the defense today. Poor finishing and good defending at the other end.

Hopefully this stops the crap here about how we will piss the league once we get out of first gear and get everyone back, there is a worrying trait occurring here and we just can't flick a switch and turn it back on

I've said it before these players need to be playing a game every three days once that stops they lose momentum and it takes them time to get it back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,480 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

It will be a tight race, but come on, we are mostly likely to win it still .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

How we are top with so many poor performances and so many injuries is amazing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,187 ✭✭✭mosstin

Way things have been going lately, Keita's gonna injure Thiago in training isn't he?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Mane should have gone down there. Would have to be a pen on VAR. Still should have been.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Seeing that little No. 6 all over the place helping out was good to see.

    You'd miss Jota something awful...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,480 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

If Mane drops and screams when keeper tackled him then it's 10000% a penalty when VAR look at it . But we stay up no matter what, unlike every other team in the Universe .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

If Jota was fit Mane or Salah would have been hooked at half time.

Mane & TAA haven't been at it at all this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Saints away then, United athome its goi g to get worse before better

    Missing Fabhino in Midfeild massively,
The Jota injury has made the front 3 stale

Should’ve brought him on 10 minutes earlier, and Shaq with him.

A more disappointing draw than the last one. Nat needs either get better or stop trying those Hollywood passes Stevie G used to do.

Thiagio gave the team a huge lift when he came on.

We badly need a fast CB. I would be shocked if we won the title without signing another CB.

Our midfielders bar Thiago are so scared to pass through the lines

Not sure how the CB position can be at fault for us not scoring a goal? Philips did his job to keep the ball out of the net and feed the midfielders. Our attackers didn't do their job.

One questions did anyone think Darlow held Mane leg when he jumped over him?
Looked like he grabbed him but could be me just looking for excuses

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,480 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

People in studio praising the keeper for holding back mane

    ''so clever '

Eh we live in the VAR age, where so clever is called out .

We are not the only team having a mare of a season. Could anyone have predicted the top 6, ignoring their position in the table, just picking them, after 16 games played. I reckon not a single person anywhere could have guessed it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,948 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Thiago had some excellent passes but even his most mundane showed exactly what the rest of the midfield weren't doing, he'd get the ball and wouldn't even think about taking 4 touches and passing back t Phillips, he was getting it forward constantly.

Marginally better than the first half, wouldn't be hard.

Too many not at the races., I'd actually drop Trent in particular.

Chances not taken, just can't afford to do that.

Thiago is class and will turn draws into wins no doubt. Reckon if he stays fit, the wins will come again,

Yeah a few have mentioned it and I definitely agree, one of those where we'll be called bitters for saying it but to me it's a clear foul, Mane's trying to swing his leg at the ball from less than a yard out, if he's not held it's a goal.

Points dropped against 4 of the worst 5 teams in the division will haunt us if we do not win this league
Something looks off about Salah and Mane.
Nobody else in the team seems capable of pulling the trigger and taking a shot and helping the strikers out on an off day.
Jurgen is taking far too long to use his subs again.

The only good thing is Thiago is back and he is a footballing god.
A potential lock down will give us the time to get some players fit and Jurgen to sort out this malaise against **** teams

DM is the first palyer to get the ball on alot of attacks with Fab and you seen it withh Thaigo tonight the ball is played through the lines without them its generally palyed wide, makes a huge difference in opening teams up and breaking these teams down

They had an 8 day break only last week and even after that Liverpool couldn't beat two terrible sides neither of whom even played well.

So wasteful tonight. That's the crux of it. Salah should be putting those chances away.

Going to have start playing Hendo at CB alongside Fabinho in these types of games. Philips slows everything down and can't pass the ball.

If we were the divers that all the neutrals seem to think we are, we'd have FAR more pelanty's than we've had.

Top of the Fair Play league, bottom of the Dark Arts league.

We're too honest. City begged Premier League to call it off, Premier League was happy to play. But once requested it would look bad to deny that request, so it was granted.

He is. Think he may well be like suffering the long term effects of covid.

We're going to keep giving teams a chance as long as our forwards keep missing good chances. Far too wasteful. Thiago will make a difference in terms of chances created but they aren't being as ruthless as we need.

Can't wait for Jota to be fit!

So many chances, Salah wth two easy ones, Firmino with two very good chances, ball cleared off the line, while Mane is getting dragged back by keeper. On another day it's 0-5

Neither he nor Fab brought the ball out of defence with any authority - which is normally one of our hallmarks. Phillips because he's incapable, and I can only assume Fab was concerned about covering Phillips' lack of pace.

It enables the team to squeeze the game better.

Missed the first 30 minutes so can't comment on it, but we were still somewhat better than we were v WBA, livelier and more creative. We just fluffed the chances, happens sometimes, not the end of the world.

BUT.... That midfield. Henderson, Milner together, even Jones, very stodgy, too sideways, too many touches, too slow, but we knew that. Tiago made a difference, could have been on earlier, but maybe we don't want to rush him too soon. Thought either him or Shaq could have started, but there you go - I'm not really questioning Klopp, just commenting.

We need to be brave, turn these draws into wins again, but no panic. Still in a strong position.

I'd rather Fab in midfield too, but he isn't. Him not playing the DM role is not the sole reason we failed to win today.

    Mane off form
    Salah off form
    Trent off form
VVD not playing (superb long range passing)
    Fab not playing DM
    Jota not available
Thiago not playing a full game
    etc etc.

    It all adds up.

With a fully fit squad, let's just say if Fab had a one game suspension... we win that game without Fab playing DM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

    We need Jota fit,
    We need a CB
    We need to replace Origi

We need goals from players other than Mane and Salah

Did enough to win that game. Had the chances. Let down by a combination of poor finishing, great goalkeeping and bad luck.

We were much worse against WBA. Got the goal alright but didn't have a single other chance until Bobby's header near the end.

Too many draws this season. We've left the race wide open. Can't continue. Need to beat Southampton away next Monday and then beat United mid January.
