    Strong enough team.

Minamino in midfield, looks like. Is Clarkson a defensive mid? The only one playing by the looks of it.

Trent captains the side for the first time.

Proud night for him no doubt.

Don't see the point of that team and bench. Ideal opportunity for the first teamers to stick their feet up at home, they shouldn't have all travelled

Good opportunity for fringe players too, given the league cup has gone. Some might even have staked a claim for the FA Cup

Keita to be injured tonight, and be out for a few weeks..

Fabhino and Salah are the only two I wouldn't have started,
Trent & Naby need game time and Jota is still behind the front 3

Actively trying to break Fabinho now, ridiculous keeping him in.

Yeah but Wijnaldum, Bobby, Mané, Henderson, Robbo and Matip shouldn't have even gone to the airport

I'm sure he & Matip or Billy K will only be getting 45 each

Fabinho, Salah and Jota shouldn't be playing.

Robertson, Wijnaldum, Henderson and Mane should have stayed in Liverpool and rested. At least that way there's less chance of them catching COVID.

I basically never question Klopp - my position is almost always that he knows better for the club.

But can't get my head around this golden opportunity to rest key players with top spot shored up, ahead of a very busy week and then busy Christmas schedule?

I'm wondering is there some unwritten rule where we must play X amount of first teamers in a CL match? Maybe even in one of our sponsorship deals?

Because it makes no sense to me at all.

That's probably fair enough yeah. But would agree with the many saying that the likes of Robbo and Hendo should have been left at home, and Fabinho starting boggles my mind, he's maybe our most important player right now, an injury there would be disastorous.

Just watching the Chelsea highlights from last night and Tammy Abraham's penalty is as bad as Greenwood's.Another hoppy peno too. I'm starting to think our players are just too honest.
There really is a certain nobility about Liverpool.

I would have given him the day off and told him to limit his walking around the house!

It's probably for a number of reasons.

To get rhythm into some players.
To get partnerships built up - ie the TAA - Keita - Salah axis for the right wing with a view to starting all 3 against Spurs today week instead of at the weekend.
    To build up fitness levels.
So that there are some senior players on the field and doesn't just dump a load of kids into a CL game together where things could go wrong easily where they get overawed.

There's 3 million reasons why some senior players are involved tonight.

After that match last night, are some of them still going to pretend AWB is as good as TAA?

Minamino in midfield. I wonder is that his long term role or just for this game?

I'm glad this is the only 5.55pm kickoff we've had. It's not a civilised time to be watching Champions League.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,984 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Pretty sure Salah was onside there tbh

Is this Trent's first time as captain of the first team?

Think every group has to have one game at this time, just not sure why since there is no eastern European teams in the group so could have avoided it really.

That would have been a class goal

Watching Keita play football is a thing of beauty.

He needs to take up yoga to help with the injuries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,955 ✭✭✭dogbert27

    What a clearance by Fabinho!

    Another goal line clearance!!

Divock is our worst player,we have moved on so much since he joined,he's not unfortunately..looks shattered already too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,012 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Minamino was better than Bobby a few months ago when he never played and the calls were being made for him to replace Bobby.

I think we can see why he is just a solid cup squad player now and not better than Bobby.

Saying that I think if he got a regular run of games even 20 minutes every game he would start to harden up to this level of football.
