hay heating

    could hay saved dry early summer but gets wet during transportation at this time of year heat when stacked in shed.

    I'm open to correction , but think the way to minimize chances of heating is to keep bales close together ( might be difficult at this stage ) Also I think old folks' custom was to shake Coarse Salt on the Bales to stop the heating.
    Though the good news is, one normally knows about heating within a few weeks of putting them in the shed.
