    Hi,

I stumbled across this thread the other day - https://www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2058139290

And since then have spent more time than I should browsing around before convincing myself that I do in fact need a 5.1 system, and the best thing to do is to splurge the Christmas bonus on some proper audio for the TV room.

I'd started looking into the Yamaha YHT1840 mentioned in the above thread, and I thought that might suit my needs for dipping my toe in with a reasonably priced option... but you appear to be waiting on stock.

So that led me to thinking you seem to have the HTR2071 in stock, what about pairing that with the Wharfdale DX2s mentioned also in that thread...

Which then somehow led me to looking at the Denon AVRX2700 + MASS II 5.1 speaker....

I think you can see my problem that the cost of items I start to look at is proportionate to the amount of time spent looking at them, I'm worried that by the weekend I'll be remortgaging!

If we were to take that as the range of £400 to £850 would you have any suggestions or steers?

Is there something alternative you'd suggest, or should I bite the bullet on the Denon/MASS bundle as best option in and around that price?
Am I over/under thinking this? Am I in over my head :D

    Thanks

    Hi Grassey,

    It's a dangerous game! :D

To be honest if you've already jumped from to the AVRX2700 and the Mass there really isn't a better amp and satellite combo around that price. the amp is one of the best mid range amps and the speakers are one of the best mid range satellite systems so without spending a lot more you're not going to get better in that budget (in my opinion anyway!)

I have them available to order via the link below:

Let me know what you think!

    Kind regards

    Cheers David.

Some food for thought anyways over the weekend.

The missus is sold on the aesthetics of the MASS speakers... So that's a plus! 🀣
