Hi everyone, any ideas where to buy an already assembled PC after the 1st January to avoid import and other additional taxes due to Brexit?
Looking for alternatives of the UK websites like PC Specialist, Overclockers or Scan. Just a problem is if I buy from German, Spanish or other Europe mainland website, a power cord would be European, not the UK standard for a PSU.

The power cable is the cheapest part of the thing. Any power cable you'd buy here would work fine. Or chop off the EU plug and fit a UK one.

Alright, so a fully-modular PSU and an Irish-UK type of cable. Now about the tax - who could recommend reliable websites in Europe to buy PC - not just parts but when you can choose parts and they assemble, similar to PC Specialist?

Not meaning to hijack your thread, but I was also wondering if I was to order a PC from the UK and it wasn't going to be delivered until January, would that cause problems, or would it be okay since it would be paid for this side of the new year?

Not at all! From what I've read (that's all but rumors and speculations) that people who receive items in the EU (eg. we, in Ireland) from the UK, will have to pay tax, despite of the fact that it's been ordered before the 1st January.

If goods are valued at more than €150, consumers will face not only VAT but also customs duty. The charges will either be applied by the retailer selling the goods, or by authorities here on arrival.

This is my concern... I haven't ordered yet as waiting till the 5600X will be in stock but now seriously considering and doing research of buying from the EU sites rather than the UK as I've got used to. I'm also think of cancelling my UK Amazon Prime as I don't watch their movies as much as in Netflix (just don't like them so much) and won't be ordering so much from the UK Amazon, probably will be looking at the German one.

If the UK retailer will take the UK VAT off for you its not a huge deal.

€800 PC + €50 delivery, apply Irish VAT instead of UK vat. Same price essentially. Maybe 2% duty, depends on the tariff. The €10-15 handling fee crucifies small orders but wont be noticeable for a full PC.

So, may have to pay more for an item I’m waiting for?
Preordered and paid for, touch and go if it will be dispatched this year.
    Interesting times ahead

    What about a warranty?

I'd look to EU countries. Pricing might not be that much of an issue but logistics will be slow for Q1. Then if you need to return or exchange anything the paperwork will be sunstantial so as to avoid taxes and duty teh escond time round. I keep old power cables from monitors etc so that should be a minor problem.

You'd be mad to buy from the UK. All bets are off from January even if you order in Dec. An post or the courier can add all tax due from 1st Jan. Plus thr warranty won't be stood over from whomever the supplier is. They don't have to stand over anything.

    Why would you risk that.

I don't believe you mean a modular PSU. Any PSU will take the normal kettle lead. You already probably have a bunch of them in that box of cables you have in the corner.

Tariffs are payable on import, which means the crucial date is not when the goods are ordered or when they are paid for but when they arrive in Ireland.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm currently looking to buy from alternate.de or www.mindfactory.de. Can someone tell something about them or recommend someone else? I want a PC to be assembled, I don't want to buy separate parts and assemble myself. By I also don't want to buy it as a prebuilt PC as I want to choose the parts myself, as in the PC Specialist website.
