The only thing I can say about this post is that I sincerely hope it's a poor attempt at trolling.

If you're being serious, then you need to take a long hard look at what you look for in a leader. Trump has debased the office of President of the US since the day he took office. He is an absolutely disgusting and loathsome individual and if that's the sort of person that you admire, then I'm glad that I don't know you.

Mitch likely knows a lot more about what will come out regarding the attack and what they're worried that will happen over the next few weeks.

There is going to be trials and investigations where this will all be drip fed out over the next year or so. There is a calculation to be made here that by voting to remove they can get on the 'right' side of this and not have their party and legacies tied to Trump as closely as it will if they don't get rid of him (even at this late point).

Imo the Republicans are now in self preservation mode. When it comes to each individual that wants to maintain a future in politics they are going to look after themselves and their party.

Trump in not a republican he is an opportunist and if the republicans can ensure that they get the conviction of impeachment (not just the initial impeachment) and that leads to a barring of Trump being able to hold public office then why in gods name would they not do it?

If he does not get convicted there is a massive chance he will run as and independent and canibalise the republican vote.
