I know his cousin. It's true, his family is largely composed of Democrats. But he is not. A lot of people when they initially register to vote at 18 choose their parents political party and then never update it.

Also if he’s in a blue state it would make sense to register as a Democrat to vote for the most conservative candidate in the primaries.

Lad I used to work with was wiring lights in someone’s back gardens do needed to go to the toilet, knocked on the back door and asked were he could go to the toilet, the guy who’s house it was started giving him details of how to get to the nearest petrol station. For some of the insurrectionists, it was probably worth it if they get 10 years in prison. For example, that guy who wore the fur headdress with horns, he obviously wanted to be seen, and he certainly got his wish because he's in loads of memes and he's been all over the coverage of the storming of the Capitol building.

But who I think will really be regarded as a hero by the cult of Trump and a lot of angry southerners besides is that other person who was photographed strolling through the halls of the Capitol building with the flag of the Confederacy over his shoulder. I can well imagine that this photograph will be framed and take pride of place in more than a few American homes over the coming months and years.

This is certainly not to condone their actions, which were absolutely disgraceful, but this is the parallel reality, I think, that will be in many American homes.

The only notable paper I see peddling this story is... Russian Times. And parroted by The American Conservative, The National Pulse, and Red State, which are all pro-Trump blogs with specious reputation. The actual RT piece is not compelling, either, it just reblogs some incredibly thin allegations from twitter users. In fact most of the story is framed around the audacity of Lincoln Project getting its schadenfreude in about the election and their plans to primary Republicans who supported #StopTheSteal, saying the quiet part out loud that this is a reactionary hit job from the Kremlin.
