That will be interesting given the torrent of abuse that Kemp and Raffensberger have endured for the last few months.

According to Ballotpedia , the Georgia recount rules are :-

It looks like neither GOP candidate will be inside the 0.5% margin for them to request a recount , so it will be down to Raffensberger to make the request.

How predisposed will he be to pander to another round of crap?

He's likely damned by them either way - He might decide it's better to get it over with and just deny the recount right away.

entirely possible for Perdue/Ossoff to be within 0.5%. Currently at 0.4%.

I'm sure it will be nice to get some legislation through the senate instead of bills sitting on McConnells desk. I can't imagine them going for radical.

Exactly - Other than the Tax bill and the few recent COVID bail-outs , pretty much the only thing the Senate have voted on over the last 4 years are Judicial appointments.

He will humor them if its reasonably close to 0.5 and not within 0.5. I'd hope for the same treatment of any popular movement of defeated candidates (eg. Stacey Abram) if it were really close and tensions were high. That's what we've come to, now, because for whomevers fault it is many people do not trust our elections.

    Happened yesterday. Utter shenanigans.

If you're moderate and for law and order, Reps have been showing you why they don't deserve your vote in the last few years.

If you're a died in the wool anti-socialist, no manner of lawbreaking will faze you so long as it's to own the libs or ostensibly to fight socialism's agenda. Have people quoting "enemies foreign and domestic" to have Pence flagrantly violate the 12th Amendment and Counting laws today to declare himself and Trump the winner 'just because.' The shoot a communist on 5th ave caucus.

After all this ****, them laws should be changed.

I'm not so sure it would make any difference.

It might close one door on conspiracy theories, but would open an other when mailing results are leaked on or before election day and this being used to motivate people to vote or convince your opponents voters they have it won and there is no need to go to vote themselves given the bad weather, pandemic, heat or whatever.

US politics bipartisan nature is incredibly divisive because everyone falls in to a with us or against us category and the winner takes all nature to it leads people to pull every trick they can to give their candidate an advantage.

Everything that has gone on in relation to US politics in relation to the election might actually be beneficial. The range of attacks Trump made on the results and the lack of success he had in getting a court to act in this respect could be seen to be a pretty useful stress test in respect of voting integrity. Time will tell.

Would need to see a wider shot to be sure , but the "Stop the Steal" rally in DC really doesn't look like there are a whole lot of people there

He can't actually be fired so he'll probably be told to sit in the corner and think about what he's done for a while!

Its like he is running a campaign rally. Whats the point?

The more he talks the more it is so clear that he is simply upset he lost. Clearly those around him told him he was going to win and he can't get over that he lost.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,073 ✭✭✭joseywhales

He just keeps losing, can't stop losing, I've never seen so much losing before.

Biden to pick Merrick Garland as AG.

Mitch McConnell is being slaughtered from all angles here.

He is a drooling idiot, but sure he's making a fortune off these people. He'll continue milking this for all its worth until the dollars dry up. That's all he cares about.

Can I just say, that is almost perfect?

Mitch didn't hold the Hearings for the SCOTUS appointment because there are purple GOP that know Garland was a "fine choice" (Sen Hatch).

His nomination will likely get bipartisan support, short a few eternal curmudgeons.
