Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Appearance is Appearance - that which can be seen.

If a person changes their appearance, it must be intended to be seen.

It's a bit delusional to pretend that you haven't noticed. And it's asking too much to expect that everyone will like the new look.

People DO have opinions on what they see - that's probably what caused the transformée to get the change done in the first place.

All this is by way of saying, you are free to notice and remark on my appearance, and I on yours, or on his, hers, or theirs. Etc. Free speech!

Oh, the swollen lips are frightening.

They look like they've just been in a boxing match!

I suspect this is one of those fashions that the owners of will look back on their photos (when they are older) and say, Ye gods, what were we thinking?

Like I look back on the hairstyles of my youth. !!!!!

you'd be surprised :pac: The lip thing is horrific they're beginning to remind me of characters from Escape from LA in the plastic surgery scene.

I think body modification is fine but there comes a point where I find my self questioning :D :pac:

As with most cultural phenomena these days, it's an import from the US.

It started in black American culture - black guys love big bums on the ladies. Then for some reason white people started thinking it was sexy, next thing you know white girls are trying to flaunt big butts in culture and the traditionally sexy hourglass figure seems to have been thrown out with the bathwater in modern pop culture.

Then we imported the idea based on the trash TV imports like the Kardashians.

I think it just a drip drip erosion of cultural quality in the West. In the old days we had Marilyn Monroe. These days it's Kim Kardashian. It's definitely a change for the worse.

Judgemental wagons! :D I hate lip fillers but it’s precisely none of my business if someone wants to get the procedure done.

To be fair, I was struggling to eat my food because my lips were so numb, so they thought I was getting so much procedures done it was interfering with daily functions ðŸ˜.

Should have held off till I got home but I was starving and didn't want to wait.

I think we have reached conversational saturation point, when the relative merits, or points of ridicule, of any person is being based on - the mass of their ass.

I think anyone lucky enough to have a fully functioning arse should do their upmost to keep it clean and in shape? I would imagine it is the type of item which you will sorely miss when it is gone?

For the record I like arses' which are shaped like Daisy Dukes's. I am a traditional old fart at heart.

It's not really. An awful lot of women go around flaunting them, the one i work with certainly does, i don't walk around in lycra or see through trousers to flaunt my lad! Also maybe out in a pub or something someone would might something to her (or you;)) about them, but not in work, not that i've ever heard about anyway.

People do of course notice, it's hard not to, and they do mention it sometimes when she's not there - but that's just life. I'm sure people sometimes talk about me when i'm not there too! They certainly would if i wore see through trousers!:D

I dont flaunt anything at all. I didn't deliberately grow them. I don't wear tight clothes or low cut tops, I actually dress to minimise them and detract attention from them , so your analogy doesn't hold. No one has come up to you and commented on your package while you were wearing, normal every day clothing going about normal every day things yet people feel they can do that to me, based on what, that other women flaunt their breasts?

Fine if its natural but its all fake. Sick of it too. Wish they would all jog on. Fake and weird looking. They look so out of proportion.

Plastic surgery isn’t a huge thing in Ireland relative to other countries. If a girl has a big arse, and she’s Irish, chances are it came through a lot of hard work.

Nothing fake about them, just hard work to attain a standard of beauty they wish to achieve.

Biologically, a woman with a big arse and/or hips looks more fit to bear children, which is deep rooted in many men to find attractive.

Not to mention Irish women are competing with immigrants from ethnicities that would be more naturally inclined to have big hips and arses.

It will be funny once it goes out of fashion again though and they're all going around with these massive arses that they can't get rid of..

They'll be like those shoulder pads from the 80s that they can't remove..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,344 ✭✭✭OneEightSeven

Hopefully, never. Nothing more attractive than a thicc PAWG with a skinny waist. When I stumble across old TV shows with women in bikinis and tight clothes from the '90s/early-2000s, I can't help but notice how skinny they look. I think woman have more attractive bodies these days, it's just a pity more and more of them are desecrating their skin with trashy tattoos - that's a trend that needs to die fast.

More just them being arseholes than anything else i'd imagine. Anyone who feels it's perfectly acceptable to walk up to a stranger, or a colleague and comment directly about any part of their body is just a dickhead.

Easier said than done i know, but you shouldn't take it personally. **** will be ****!

Wont be long now, plastic surgeons will be offering the chance for people to actually change their face into a huge arse instead. In fairness, looking at the majority of the faces they have scalpeled already, there's not a whole lot of options left.

Twink has a face like an arse, maybe she’s already had that surgery.

    Hi,

I think the growing popularly of big butts, is directly related to the growing number of cyclists....

After all, they need to park the bikes somewhere ;):D

    Thanks,

The amount of young lads that walk around where I live holding their dick in their hands is incredible. Sometimes they have two hands down the front of their jocks like they are juggling them or something.

I've seen them as well - usually in tracksuits, from a non-working class background. I don't think they are a very good example for anything concerning standards of respect :pac:

Low-hanging fruit. Models were curvy long before the Kate-Moss era of beauty - Marilyn Monroe was a sex symbol and anyone would agree she was a curvy lady with a big arse.

Over the years there has been so much commentary about skinny models influencing women to become anorexic or bulimic. Now that it's in fashion to be healthy again you have people giving out about arses being too fat.

If you like a skinny or fat arse, whatever - but you're kidding yourselves if you're saying all these larger arses are all fake.

The women on this all sound as if they've lost a man to a Brazillian woman tbh.

Nope. A common enough belief that Monroe would be "plus sized" today, but wrong. I remember reading an article by some fashion writer whose name escapes who looked at some of her dresses that were coming up for auction and she couldn't believe how small she was and how tiny her waist was. She was an hourglass with a tiny frame.

And a huge arse she didn't have.

Well African American women are one of the heaviest of all demographics in the US. Something like 80% are defined as obese, so maybe that's what the guys in hip hop culture are used to so celebrate it?

At her biggest she was a size 4 -6 in todays sizes, in the 50's a size 4 was a size 10 - 12. Vanity sizing was brought in in the 80's by retail companies.
She was curvy but she was also tiny, her waist was measured at 22 inches.

IMHO she looked better in her 30's than in her 20's. A hard trick to pull off.

Never personally got the appeal of her tbh, I'd be more a Sophia Loren type. More Latin, less neurotic, more brains going on. Sad end for her though.

Theres also the biological phenomenon of steatopygia, throw in the hyper sexuaiisation and objectification of black females in hip-hop, with possible selective breeding for a gene.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,696 ✭✭✭Day Lewin

    Hmmm...
    evolution-wise, these are deep waters.

The Steatopygy is typically found in desert peoples where there might be recurring food shortage: it enabled females to keep a supply of energy stored, in case they might be pregnant or feeding babies.

The wide shoulders, narrow hips look is what they call an Android pelvis - more like the male shape - unsuited for child-bearing and therefore less likely to attract male attention - because problematic for delivery.

But all populations need a wide range of attributes for best adaptation to changing circumstances. So we will see how this develops.

Hahha, I had written something like that but deleted. Mine are not that big at DD, but big enough compared to the rest of me and it is actually so weird when mid intense work conversation while you are looking for notes and files etc you find your colleague checking them out, then they see you have seen them do so, they look a bit watery eyed and embarrassed, but nonetheless without skipping a beat the show must go on as if you have not just clocked them absent-mindedly looking at your tits. It is not comfortable at all. Dressing is difficult too, high neck and it looks like you have an upholstered shelf on the front, low neck and it looks like you are on the game.

To be honest if you don't show them off the men will stop looking. Most women wear cleavage to garner attention. Judging by your posting history it would fit the bill. It is quite unusual to openly tell someone your breast size on the internet, for example. DD is considered big, if that's the affirmation you were looking for.

Its simply a genetic predisposition to having an accumulation of fatty tissue in the trunk in sub-sahara Africans. With any gene, if its part of a selectively preferred phenotype it should become more prevalent over time.
Throw in crap high carb diets, I wonder is there a co-relation

I've maybe seen that twice or three times in 30 odd years of living on this planet.

Meanwhile, virtually every girl of a certain age walks around with their camel toe clearly visible and, often times, what (if anything) they're wearing as underwear.

And most of the time, we're talking about girls who, while I don't find anything wrong with them as I like curvy girls, are technically obese.
