Any experienced boatman like to give an opinion on these boats.Would they be safe at sea in sheltered waters or are they just lake boats. How would it compare to an Orkney longliner or equivalent OSM 460 boat?

I'd rather be in a longliner they can handle a bit of chop .I had a macliner 17 great little boat there a copy of a longliner a foot longer and a bit heavier

The Darragh is a very light boat and just a bit too short for much sea.
The Orkney style would be safer.
Have a look at Del Quay Fisher, Robert Ives Fisher and Aran 16 also as they are good sea boats

    be safer
