Private clinic or public clinic? Confused...

Does anyone know about the difference between the private clinic vs. public clinic in the same hospital?

If one doctor in tallaght hospital has both public and private clinic, are they in fact the same? I mean the services and quality offered, because they are from the same person, right?

So am I right in understanding that, I just pay $$$ in order to avoid the long queue as a public patient?

First time visiting hospital here in Ireland...so a bit confused...

    Thanks a mill in advance!

That's it. I was diagnosed with cancer this year. Did all the diagnosis private. Once I had the diagnosis I switched to public with the same consultant. Don't know if they're all so accommodating.

Sometimes it's not the same service. Some public clinics you see a junior doctor (and not necessarily the same one) each time you go, and the consultant pops their head in the door for about 30 seconds. Compared with a private appointment, where you'd have the consultant by themselves for the whole (usually longer) appointment.
