Only 1 of the songs in top 5 was in English.

Where did Ireland’s public vote go?

    Very very closely

Didn't winners often sing in English after victory?

I liked the Belgium song. Stunning looking woman too with that tight dress and knee high boots. She reacted well when she got low points from the public. Best way to deal with it.

The Greece song was cool too and fabulous figure on that lead singer.

That's the quickest line I've ever seen anyone do!

There's a simple solution but the countries will hate it

End auto qualification for everyone but the previous winners, make every single country have to earn their place in the final
    Won't happen
Besides the dosh, it's population numbers/viewing figures.

Germany failed to qualify once or twice in the 90s and the viewing figures dropped too much so the auto qualifiers came in to ensure those 5 big population centres were always in it
Italy really doesn't give a fck as they have San Remo, so they dropped out for a long while after they were told they'd have to go through qualifiers! They do their own thing

For them, San Remo is the top festival and winners can choose to enter Eurovision, some say yes, some say no and that's why Italian entries are usually a notch above the rest. :pac:

The issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution.

The Entryism process: 1) Demand access; 2) Demand accommodation; 3) Demand a seat at the table; 4) Demand to run the table; 5) Demand to run the institution; 6) Run the institution to produce more activists and policy until they run it into the ground.

To be fair you'd need a stimulant after 3 hours of drinking in the green room and then going on and performing when you won.

I take it ye know we came 16th in the semi final with 20 points from I can see!

They should test him now. If he's doing that it is a disgrace.

    That was comedy gold.

Swiss song was the best song in it. People are weird

I found myself singing along to the Belgian entry before I did to the rest.

Only 2 countries have it as their first language so that's a good ratio.

I'm repeatedly watching the Swiss lad getting his cough softened. Fabulous TV.
Watch the bit from 2019 when the Swedish bloke gets nobbled by Holland at the last minute

I'm shocked at how poorly San Marino and Malta did in the televote. Was expecting them to do quite well. Big skew towards the top 5 with votes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,373 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Italian lead singer can now buy himself a fresh tee shirt.
Maybe he is the one that stole the woman from Belgium's Johnny cash t shirt!

The results of the public vote is now just more dreadful reality TV, painfully dragging it out with pauses etc.Horrible to watch.

And yet you watched it to the end?

This was always a form of reality tv if that what that is a voting system which will vote for songs, and one wins and the others don’t.

Pointed out on twitter, Israel spent the last month bombing the shyt out of women and children in their beds and they got 93 points, UK still 0.

I was so worried about the hype about Malta's song honestly I even got worried but at least the public got it right!

Thought that was a thoroughly entertaining Eurovision myself.

One of my biggest takeaways is that I need to get the BBC for next year. Marty is the drizzling ****s and seems to do his best to spoil the night with his drivel.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire, you'd have to listen to graham Norton then.

Lots of speculation that Italians were snorting cocaine going around. They say they smashed a glass.

Was just about to comment the same. That shocked me.
I personally don't think the best song one this year...at the same time it's good to see that a variety of songs can win rather than the same style of song winning every year.

I hope they investigate this. Absolutely disgraceful if true.

Haha just heard press conference there for Italy someone from English media asked them about the English song getting no points. Always has to be about them. They wonder why no one ****ing likes them.

They basically ripped off Rage against the machine.

Sounds an awful lot like ome of the Slash ft Myles Kennedy songs in parts, can't remember the name.

If I had been involved in that tasteless fiasco of a sh#tshow, I would be doing drugs as well.
No judgement here , but seriously they do look a bit ' glittery' in that twitter clip.

I tuned into Graham as I can’t stand Marty....but ended up switching back to Marty! Graham seemed to be annoyed by the whole thing

Like the other poster mentioned there was better songs that should have won

  • Registered Users Posts: 385 ✭✭quartz1

Ireland came last in their semi final and received a very tiny number of votes..

Another hear ahead and Rte will pull another singer out of a corner, spend a pile of money preparing the singer and the exact will again be earned

Time to withdraw from the contest until RTE management are able to make a serious effort to find act.

Why not a national song contest on tv and pick the next act there in full view of the public . Shameful TB be throwing licence fee money any acts that are not producing.

The best song definitely did not win tonight. Italy’s heavy rock number was okayish but not deserving of a win. That accolade should have gone to France or Malta.

Have no idea how Switzerland did so well with the national juries, but the popular phone vote gave Lithuania the highest points. The splitting of the vote between juries and the viewing audience changes the ranking too much in the final part of the vote.
