AstraZeneca approved for all over 18. 2nd dose anywhere between 4 & 12 weeks

"Most of the participants in these studies were between 18 and 55 years old. There are not yet enough results in older participants (over 55 years old) to provide a figure for how well the vaccine will work in this group. However, protection is expected, given that an immune response is seen in this age group and based on experience with other vaccines; as there is reliable information on safety in this population, EMA’s scientific experts considered that the vaccine can be used in older adults. More information is expected from ongoing studies, which include a higher proportion of elderly participants."

Do we know what intervals J&J are doing on the 2 dose trial?

I'm part of the 2 shot trial.

I go back after 57 days for the 2nd shot.

Great news with 1 jab. I mean amazing news. More than likely most of the current vaccines give this level of protection after 1 jab but never tested it in practice.

Maybe one of the benefits of all this is learning what trials worked best, pfizer seems to have the best. Oxford seems to have to prove the data so much more due to missed data or low % of the data sample. J&J had a few sub sets:
    2 shot placebo
    2 shot vaccine
First shot vaccine 2nd shot placebo
First shot placebo 2nd shot vaccine
    Also different gaps between shots.
Meant that when they looked at the data they knew which one should of been best and did a full trial on it. Would help prove what the Brits did during trials etc.

Be even better if the 2 jab is higher but we should have millions vaccinated with 1 jab before that data comes out. Doubles the profits for J&J overnight.

Companies just have to provide information on their exports, destination and quantity if going outside the EU. Nothing major really, a bit of extra paperwork at the end of the day

Ouch, 92 countries are exempted but not the UK.

    2 months.

The dosing interval probably means we can just give out all of February and March supplies as first dose, that'll help.

It's more of a decision for their own vaccination programme and their prerogative.

Britain has already vaccinated 8 million or thereabouts; we've barely scratched the surface for half that number because they want to administer the vaccine via GPs at 60 eu a pop rather than just set up mass vaccination centres in every county and give it to all-comers.

So the UK 'gamble' on wider gap between doses has been given the nod by the EMA, I wonder if it based on data from UK or from the trials. Interesting, and simplifies rollout.

For AZ yes, not approved for Pfizer or Moderna like the Brits

The UK gamble in on Pfizer window.

AstraZeneca trials included 12 week window so wasn't untested.

The EMA made the logical and scientific leap that the UK did and the Germans refused to do. There was enough other data from immonugenecity tests and trial data form other at risk groups say with a level of confidence efficacy was not going to be diminished.

Problem now is they are going to have a massive PR battle trying to convince people its fine, but results from UK from the next month of two should elay concerns.

How long more before we, hopefully, hear an announcement re approval of J&J vaccine?

You think we are behind the UK because of a requirement for GP's to administer the vaccine? wow.

Have the EMA advised on an observation period after the injection or will that be left up the national authorities?
