    Hey folks.

Currently have a home setup that consists in the main of Tuya lights and alarm panel with some additional Sonoff switches too.
Along with a few Google devices and a nest.
Home network is an Asus AC86 as the main house, and an archer c7 as a repeater in an outbuilding.

Everything works fairly well and integrates well with Google assistant.

The thing is I want to try and get as much on LAN control as possible.

I'm leaning towards Tasmota and a HomeAssistant setup on a pi4.
    Am I missing anything else?
What else can I gain by going with this type of setup?
Should I be looking towards any alternatives?

By LAN control I presume you mean local control and cut out the Tuya cloud service?

The Tuya stuff integrates easily with Home Assistant but still relies on the cloud service unless you modify with Tasmota or use Tuya Local.

Tasmota is the easiest option if the Tuya devices are ESP based but a lot of them are not.

Tuya Local works great but there is a good bit to setting it up initially including signing up for a Tuya developer account. Not all device types are supported yet. So far I've setup switches and thermostats this way.

The Sonoff stuff can be easily integrated with or without Tasmota and local control is possible either way

    Thanks for that.

Given the mix of Tuya and Sonoff I do think that Tasmota may be the easiest way to get a fuller control experience.

Ideally I'd like to nix reliance on the cloud service and have a local server running the lights and other automations.

I think I might have a little post Xmas project in getting something setup.

For alternatives look at Shelly devices, work with Tasmota too or equally fine on their own firmware. Designed for people who like to tinker and have a few methods to control, including MQTT and http commands as well as their own home assistant integration. They can work with or without a cloud service and each one has it's own webserver so can be configured or controlled with a web browser.

Tasmota may not be an option for some or possibly all of your Tuya devices, I know it's not for most of mine.

If you have Tuya Devices that you can't flash with Tasmota

then have look at the following links.

Tuya Developer page: https://iot.tuya.com/ , Sign up as a Tuya Developer
    Instructions for Dev Page: https://github.com/codetheweb/tuyapi/blob/master/docs/SETUP.md
Tuya CLI, : https://github.com/TuyaAPI/cli , Use this tool and your developer details to register devices for your local server
Tuya Local: https://github.com/rospogrigio/localtuya , third party integration for Home assistant
Tuya Local Climate: https://github.com/renat85/localtuya_thermostat , additional files for Thermostats as Tuya Local doesn't support yet.

This will allow you to control Tuya Devices locally without modifying the original firmware.
