Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    1.  Anyone else having an issue with water discolouration since the boil water notice ended recently?
    If your cold kitchen tap is currently affected, could you send us a private message confirming the below details?

     - Full name;

    - Contact number;

    - Full address including the Eircode and County;

    - Are you aware if your neighbours are also affected?

    2.  Turning off water at the mains.
    In order to turn off your supply from the public mains to your property, you can switch your supply off using the outside stop valve located in your meter box. Once the works are complete you can turn back on your supply, as the outside stop valve is on publicly accessible land.

    4. Our New Connection application has timed out. I was just wondering will it take the full time frame or could it be faster as we had already enquired?
    Please PM us with your full name, address of the application, contact number & your Irish Water reference number. A member of our team will be happy to follow up on this for you.

    5. I have been noticing a lot of fine white particles in our water. What is it?
    Thanks for getting in touch.

    White discolouration in water can be caused by trapped air or dissolved minerals (lime) associated with water hardness.

    Air can get into the water supply following repair work on the network or when a pocket of air becomes trapped in the internal domestic pipework. Aerated water has a cloudy/ milky white appearance.

    To determine whether the cause is air or hard water you can:

    Fill a glass with water from the cold tap and observe how it clears -

    •Aerated water can take 10 minutes to clear and will clear from the bottom of the glass upwards. Any white water in the water mains from this cause should clear within 2-3 hours.

    •Water containing white sediment (hard water) will take an hour or more to clear and will clear from the top of the glass downwards, with the white sediment remaining at the bottom of the glass.

    There is no health risk in either circumstance.

    Please see: here.
