Its a major let-off for Khal, who was a mere four times the answer of 60g which Zaph got spot on

    Morning folks

Mrs G&R and myself have a seven week old, we're not at weaning stage yet but someone gave us a baby meal planner book.

How many grams of butternut squash is in one portion for a baby just starting on solids?

Well I'd throw that book away for starters :p
Good luck trying to get 60g into your little one when they're just starting with food

Right, today's question is from "An unsung hero" - if anyone hasn't read this they should, immediately, Tom Crean was a machine

Anyway in 1912 he was part of Robert Scott's expedition to the south pole but 268km from the pole the party split in two.
Crean and two others were to return to the base camp and leave rations along the way, while the others continued onto the pole.

They had to cover 1,200km while carrying a 180kg sledge. They barely made it, on average how many km did they cover each day?

For information its described as 370km across the 10,000ft high Plateau, 190km down the crevasse strewn Beardmore and 640km across the desolate Barrier.
Scott and his four buddies made the south pole but all died on the way back, its seen as a major f**k up that he didn't take Crean with him

Was it a bad decision or was there more to why he sent them back?

Mother of Jaysus, I've read it, but those numbers never penetrated my thick skull in any meaningful way

Look at you sticking up for the english

Bad decision, Crean was the most experienced there, was rested from leading a pony for a lot of the journey, and was generally a hard b@stard. One of the guys Scott included had an injury which ended up making him a passenger on the return journey. Scott also changed his mind last minute and brought five instead of four as planned to the pole.

Crean ended up saving the two lads he was with, Evans was snow blind and Crean and Lashly carried him on a sledge for seven days until they were down to two days supplies. Crean left them with the supplies, walked 56km in 18 hours with just a bar of chocolate and three biscuits.

Thats nothing in comparison to what he did on his expedition with Shackleton when their boat got stuck in the ice.

    Amazing book

This might sound like a silly question, were they actually carrying the sledge or pushing/pulling it?
