I got a warning from Necro about this post.

    https://touch.boards.ie/thread/post/115650099

    Seems excessive.
It's perfectly valid to question whether a member of an African gang was "A Dublin man", I've the right to defend my Dublin identity too.

Already requested he revisit his warning but he won't. Certainly what I said was positively tame compared to the rest of the thread.

I can take this one. Please confirm that you have attempted to resolve the issue with the mod in question and paste the correspondence on this thread.

Here's the entire PM, with minor personally identifiable info redacted.

    Dear TuringBot47,

You have been warned for being uncivil.

Typically, this means that you are posting in a needlessly aggressive or confrontational manner being disruptive on the forum or causing stress for the other members. We don't want that here.

For more information please refer to the Boards.ie FAQ.

    Moderator Note

Take that sort of attitude elsewhere, it is not acceptable in this forum

    Your post:
They say "A DUBLIN MAN".... then you hear the name "Moses Lulendo"

I request you reassess whether that infraction is really valid.

I've the right to defend my own Dublin identity too.
And I've an <redacted personal info for this thread>

Ok, but that sort of posting is not acceptable on Boards, it's that simple.

You are free to use the Dispute Resolution Forum if you want a third party to take a look at this.

    Regards,

    Necro

Ok thanks. Can you clarify the point you were trying to make with your post?

My point was the deliberate obfuscation of this violent criminals ethnicity in the Journal's article linked in the post immediately before mine.

The article does not mention ethnicity at all. The only mention is that he lives in Dublin (Gardiner Place).

What your post stated (and intended to state) was that a person with that name could not possibly be a real Dublin man/ Irish man. This racist statement is the reason why you were infracted. Personally I would have banned you but I will defer to the mod in this case.

Please advise if you want an admin review.

That's exactly my point. There's a deliberate obfuscation of real integration problems in the media and very clearly in boards moderation too. Here's another link to the updated story.

    No, you have inferred that.

Nobody switches 100% to Dub/Irish in a single generation and I'm sure they will have one foot in both camps as part of their own personal identity. They're not disowning either side or cultures.

This isn't speculation, I've multiple extended family members and in-laws from Africa.

So I'd argue it's racist to see them as 100% Dub/Irish and ignore the other part of their own identity.

Yes, get an admin to review this too.

I'd also like to know whether this was a reactionary infraction due to someone abusing the report button to silence other peoples opinions.

Just seems bizarre considering the much more "opinionated" posts.

To suggest this is not racist is pretty outrageous in my book

Upgrading to a 1 month forum ban

Anything more like this and you can expect a siteban for contravening site rules
