    Yeah the definition already posted.

Why do you think portraying an entire group of people of being racists and killing all black people or wtte is not hate speech?

Being a member of an Garda Síochána is most certainly an identity factor. Where exactly is the confusion with that?

No, the definition posted doesn't include profession or occupation, you're just deciding that it does. You don't appear to be able to offer anything to support that statement other than repeating "it does", and as you're making the accusation, the burden of proof is on you.

Under your interpretation of that definition of hate speech I'm engaging in hate speech if I say that I think acupuncturists are psuedo-scientific frauds or that MOT mechanics are money grubbing opportunistic ****ers. Neither is as severe an accusation as saying they're out there killing people, but that makes no odds to the definition you're working from.

It's a bit weird you've picked the UN definition anyway which only appears to be for the purposes of a document outlining their plans to address it rather than our country's own planned hate speech legislation or those of our closest neighbour which absolutely don't include profession or occupation as a protected characteristic.

That’s all well and good, but you cannot have law enforcement picking and choosing when to uphold the law. That is absurd.

They are employed by the people to uphold all the laws, all of the time..

We are so busy in Ireland trying ourselves in knots to be seen as not racist, we are actually paralysing ourselves. I agree with you wholeheartedly the gardai should uphold the law regardless of who has broken it, but again the hand wringing gob****es in power will be more interested in not being seen to be racist than being seen to be just and courageous. The ethnic minorities will p:ss down their backs whilst the rest of white society will be made stand by and shut up, say nothing and let them on.
I fear what this country is becoming, it’s time for a huge change, or we’re gonna be the ones running out of here seeking asylum in other countries.

You can hoist Emily Waszak and her comrades with their own petard. Do you want to live in a world of fear caused by an unreasonable person wielding a weapon with intent to limit your freedom by causing injury or death, what would you do in a matriachal ancho-communist utopia without the institutions of the patriachy to regulate the chaos of that world. In Emilys worldview the Gardaí are a systemically racist institution and Ireland is a country full of white supremacists.

Ah mob rule. Ya just can't beat it ...

Who needs law and order eh?

Brandishing a lethal weapon at armed police? Of course he was shot.

Thank goodness the Guards, who are doing their jobs and risking their lives for it, protected us from this dangerous person. How many more people would he have stabbed already?

Agreed. Surely the gardai will react to this? What kind of credibility would they have left if they didnt?

They're not helped by the likes of McEntee and her twitter comments. How she got Justice is beyond me.

Actually I know exactly why. Leo trying to stack the deck within FG with his own 'new guard'. It's a pity it's the country that has to pay for their internal power moves.

Minister for justice would want to make it clear that calls for violence by this mob will not be tolerated.

Where are the parents in all of this? They should act like parents and get that foolish boy to wind his head in.

There appears to be no Igbo leadership within the community at all either to match the lack of political leadership.

But they did stop the mask protest and forcefully so. I think batons wete also drawn and used.

    Oh! Sorry.

I didnt see that, I only saw one where they were present but didn't intervene. Maybe it was a different one.

Anyway, had they drawn batons yesterday, I think today would have been a total ****show in comparison. So I still think they handled it correctly.

This will lead to one stupidly serious incident to occur for them to realise they will have pissed off the country entirely.

I just hope innocent people don't get hurt on either side and the guards don't get hurt.

As for the parents, where were they when their mentally ill son should have been sectioned for his own good for his previous crimes, but I guess he was only a danger to others.

I am so grateful to the Guards for dealing with this evil, and protecting us from this on a daily basis and risking their lives doing so. I do not see how they could have been any more restrained under the circumstances. I would have shot him at the Spar.

So we have the brother calling for the assassination of a serving Garda and we have zero response from any politician despite them having a device in their hands and the use of Twitter or whatever to condemn it. Good to know where their priorities are.

There has been absolutely zero evidence presented that this guy had any history of mental illness other than his proven liar of a brother saying he had one.

Also, "mental health issues" along with "addiction issues" are the fall back excuse for most repeat offenders in this country because it shuts down discussion.

I don’t know what mental issues FFG is guy had, his parents said he was getting help.

What I do know though is that the mental health services in this country are faqking terrible, and the happenings of the last 10 months have exasperated that.

I would like to know what help he had accessed / sought / received.

I am completely disgusted with the amount of race baiting by certain politicians on this, insincere slimeballs stoking the flames of anarchy,If i see any of them coming near my door I will run them. They know the truth, a man assaulted another man, carried a knife through the streets, refused to drop it then swung with intent to stab a guard and he was shot as a result.

Would the slime prefer to have seen a guard being murdered by this guy because the guards didn’t use lethal force, absolute disingenuous bastards. They are dragging race into this to push their agenda, shame on every single one of them.

Have to laugh at the small amount of Irish eejits trying to push a racism element to this George Nkencho rubbish. Bottom line is George got his justice and that is why he is where he is right now.

That’s the story in all this for me.

That's a valid question in fairness and one that should certainly be asked

But it has nothing to do with a violent criminal who attacked and threatened multiple people (including Gardai). It's an excuse being spun by people like the good Dr Ebun Joseph (per the audio posted yesterday) to try and muddy the situation and confuse the reality of what happened

His brother is making threats and inciting further violence. Will we put that down to 'mental health' too?

I think in this case the gardai were being very careful not to feed into the "racist police" narrative

Seems like it might have been the right approach not to escalate things.

Even though some of the scenes in Hartstown were shocking, and should not be tolerated at all.

I'm still not too sure what the "justice for George" demonstrators actually want - his actions caused his death. There will be an investigation, but then what?

It was his brother that said he had mental issues. I think the brother has lost any ounce of credibility he had in the last 24 hours as he has already told several lies.
The mental health services in this country are very poor but I'm not so sure they apply in this case. Its possible to just be a scumbag and not have underlying mental health issues (which this scenario is imho)
