We do not have the death penalty in this country, this was unfortunately an outcome that could have been prevented.

Gardai are attacked everyday of the week, don't see pages of posts here worrying about them.

He got the outcome he deserved.

Some people are scared of what they've witnessed the past few days. The left has been fairly unanimous in their unwavering support for African communities, whilst labeling AGS and anyone who opposes their view as racists.

Oddly enough, this alienates people away from the left and into the hands of the right, who claim to have all the easy answers.

    Simple.

Incorrect. The Socialist Workers Party et al are only a tiny proportion of the left.

I am genuinely curious, why are you so concerned with race? Assuming you are white, the people you are championing wouldn’t give your welfare a second thought. In fact, if you were unfortunate enough to stray into their path of destruction the other day, they would have bet the shtie out of you just for having a native Irish skin tone.

Why are you siding with them? Meu deus

Are you insinuating that this marauding mob wasn't racist? Oh the irony...

Maybe I am out of the loop here, but I did not hear anything about the Spar assault being racially motivated. I thought it was a robbery, no?

Any crime on someone of a race different to your own is a racially motivated crime. So some would have you think. In one direction anyway, not sure about the other.

    Hutus were Rwandan.

If you wanted to know just how fearsome a weapon a machete is, and what it's capable of doing, in just 100 days in 1994, about 800,000 people were slaughtered in Rwanda by ethnic Hutu extremists, with the main weapon used being the machhete. Thats how serious a weapon it is, and if I were ever facing anyone wielding such a weapon, and I had a gun, I'd fire one round in the air, and if that did not stop him, the next would be aimed at centre mass.

As far as I recall the massacres were committed in the DRC, as I stated.

Please read up a bit on history.

Some of the massacres were committed in DRC, 1.5 million million Tutsi were killed in Rwanda. Hence it was called the Rwandan massacre. Twa and Tutsi were the main targets. Hutus were the original aggressors eventually fleeing to DRC and forming the Interahamwe.

    Gawd !

Thanks for dismissing 99% of what I said because of the missing "far" word.

Sure you can’t aim it centre mass, you need to shoot the baby finger nail or at a stretch the Achilles’ tendon. And if you can’t do that well the stab wound shouldn’t hurt too much but at least you won’t be a wacist.

Well that word makes all the difference.

And with it your assertion makes even less sense.

Some informative reading, an amazing book. Or if reading is not your thing, Hotel Rwanda is a decent movie.

Explain how the position of 'backing the Gardai completely' can be married with the position of 'Not trusting the Gardai to handle the situation correctly'.

Where did i say I don't trust them? I said that I view them as not doing enough at the moment.

Just because they're not out busting heads, doesn't mean I render them incompetent and side with the scumbags. The Gardai are useless a lot of the time, but I still take their side in this situation. I wholly support them.

Why mess about? Just shoot it out of their hand with the first bullet.

Plus, he wasn’t “shot dead”. They shot him to stop him and then he died in hospital.

So what your saying is the hospitals suffer from systemic racism as well???

Where's the flair though? Why not shoot it out of his hand as he lunges at you, strike him with a backfist roundhouse punch and then catch the blade as it falls?

    After all, they're trained.

I think this post will sum it up for all. It is not a race issue. He was just a scumbag who assaulted his girlfriend and did the same to a shopkeeper with a knife who is in hospital. Good riddance if u ask me. Mods take it as u wish

Like seriously. What sort of fool goes right wing just because they don't like the likes of Bríd Smith's comments on this occasion? There's a pile of parties and independents between SWP and the right who haven't stuck the boot into the Gardaí on this occasion.

Brid is only the tip of the iceberg for the left - any crime is excusable once you are not white and if you die as a result, then the white system is to blame for your death. Not a good look for anyone with a thinking brain or some train of logic

What does Brid Smith mean by "working people"? Is she suggesting those who have more money don't work?

I hate this divisive attitude of the left in Ireland.

Also if she wants to be consistent about representing "workers" I take it the exclusion applies to the long term unemployed too and not just "the rich"?

This stood out for me as well

    Absolute nonsense..

Her and her party are dangerous. They are anti people. Or at least anti “certain” people. They truly are a nasty breed..

All pathetically disguised as being concerned, caring and compassionate...

    Well firstly, welcome in newbie.

Secondly, I have never once defended the actions of the lad that died, nor have I blamed the Garda for what happened. I don't know what exactly happened. I will leave it to the powers that be to investigate it.
Posters are basically accusing me of what they're doing themselves. Which is trying to stoke the flames of this horrible incident to suit their own agenda.

As I'm not a racist I'm not particularly worried about any perceived notions of yours that I have something to fear from these people. My own experiences of people who have moved here or are first generation Irish, be it socially, in school, at work or playing sport is pretty much all positive.
I also would have witnessed a lot of disgusting racism early on when in school, so I guess that's where a lot of my hatred for it comes from.

This is nonsense and is as guilty of assuming American race politics are applicable to Ireland as the fools marching around Blanchardstown.

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

The politics of the far left and far right cannot thrive in stable societies.

That is all you need to know when analysing how these people behave.

So why are the far left behaving in such an inflammatory way? Why are the far right using social media to generate anger?

    Because:

The politics of the far left and far right cannot thrive in stable societies.
