    The family are innocent.

Videos showing a man being shot are nothing more than gratuitous.

We don't need to know the narrative until the investigation is finished.

People are trying to twist the narrative and people are rioting because of this.

Of course the truth needs to be known now.

Current news reports (backed by the video) say that gunshots happened before he swung the knife at any guard.

Everyone backing the police is stating that this happened the other way around.

So keep in mind: People defending the police here, are defending initial shots being fired, when there is no evidence of him attempting to attack a guard with the knife beforehand.

A pretty gigantic/major key part of the story, here.

Seen videos of them smashing up Dublin buses now and a Spar shop. How the hell are locals tolerating this trash that are destroying their local community.?

The Gardai need to saturate the area with units. I've got a bad feeling the situation could escalate rapidly

Genuine question: what are they protesting? It's sad that someone has been killed but when there were protests in the US and UK it was because the killings of unarmed black people were getting out of hand. This guy was not unarmed and there hasn't been a string of murders by the Gardai.

I think it's certain individuals trying to whip up a social media frenzy and appear relevant, ignorant of the history of Ireland as the land of the oppressed, as opposed to that of the slave owners and colonisers in the US, France and UK.

they want to be american, everyone does

    Revenge on who? The Gardai?

Or innocent bystanders, shop owners or bus drivers?

    This is true.

There are also a lot of falsehoods circulating.

The shots were fired before. Its written in the times.

There are also witnesses who say they are not sure if there was a knife at the exact time of the shooting.

    Who’ll pay the mortgage now?

This is the funny thing to note here.

In London, or Paris, these new "poor marginalised" whathaveyous, from what I gather they are housed in council estates the natives long since vacated. I remember seeing in Glasgow a large high rise estate had its demolition cancelled because the Home Office needed to move asylum seekers out of London.

This isn't the case in Blanchardstown. Or most of West Dublin. For whatever reason, despite the fact many of these people arrived when the DCC couldn't pay people to live in the Ballymun towers, they weren't sent there. Nor were they by and large sent to the sketchy local authority estates in Blanch (Corduff, Fortlawn, Sheepmoor, Whitestown)

By and large they were sent to private rental homes, some 70s built areas like Huntstown but largely more boom time built brand new areas. Large 3 bed semi detached homes built with the upper working/ lower middle class buyer in mind.

These people should really be reminded that Tyrellstown, Ongar and Clonee in no way resemble a French banlieue in architecture or social class. The only large groupings of these in actual council housing is in the large new estates Parnell and Avondale that were built about a decade ago. The allocation of so many of these homes to the newcomers being one of the main drivers of the House the Irish First movement out there, as the people who grew up in the neighbouring older estates felt sidelined.

While plenty of these people undoutedtly got jobs and bought homes in the area, a good deal of these people are unemployed/ semi employed, living off rental subsidies, and have the jockeys bollocks to accuse the state of not treating them right. Some of these people have spent the last 2 decades living in the same 3 bed that at the booms height was probably worth 400K, and plenty of poor bastards who grew up in Blanch have spent the same two decades commuting daily from Virginia and Mullingar and the like because they couldn't afford to live in these same estates.

    It is absolutely staggering ungratefulness.

    Watch the video yourself

He has his back turned and then proceeded to swing from the left in the direction of the guards which is when the first shot is fired, then followed by 3 more of which 2 hit (he was still standing). It was only the final shot where he went out of frame and obviously onto the ground.

From what I can gather it is unequivocally justified.

    Are you sure about that?

Pretty sure Irish people are good and running down their own.

Cannot see the media running the story of the blacks running riot either.

Hate speech laws incoming to make discussing the problem impossible.

He looks like his back was turned and he was going into the house when they opened fire...that's the way it looks in the video, he came back out then they dropped him with a few shots.
Unless there was a guard in the house he wasn't running for one..

Despite the fact that there appears to be a video disproving the above, I don't think anyone should be surprised that the Gardaí forcefully stopped a person acting in a highly threatening manner from entering a dwelling with a knife - especially given what occurred leading up to that moment.

I won't post the video as I don't know if it's against the rules here (and shows the mans death), but it's easily found with searching.

Here is the relevant snippet from the article:
    ...
A gunshot can be heard before the man in blue is seen swinging his arm towards the officers. ...

It's a disturbing situation when senior politicians are siding with a man who tried to kill several people and who has a history of extreme violence.

    It's frightening in fact.
