After selecting from a panel when did they gave you offer in 2018.? I mean how many months did they took to give you offer?

Hi everyone :) I'm glad I found this group here.. at least we can share some information.
I emailed the DCC asking about the number of vacancies they have at the moment but they said the list of vacancies isn't finalised yet. I was wondering if Local Authorities normally hire a significant number o people for graduate programme. I've no idea if I will be offered a job at some stage or not...

I'm currently on a contract from the 2018 graduate programme and applied again but wasn't shortlisted either.
After contacting the LGMA, the short story is that (other than the 2 areas in the west/north west) the only people getting called for interviews are those with a relevant postgrad qualification (level 9 or higher) that graduated in the past 3 years. That is the only way to get the maximum of 11 points needed.

As for the number of posts available for each stream, that is unknown. The local authorities where the various post are available is in the application form.

So you were a graduate for two years with the same program? And you were applying for the same graduate program? Was there no opportunity to get a full-time role after your two years?

Hello, anyone heard from Dublin Region lead authority? As regards the local authorities graduate program?

Plus, is a panel position per selected field... or the panel position is a general panel position for every candidate for a particular region?

The panel position isn't general, that's the information I got.
E.g. If you applied for the Sustainability discipline in Dublin region, you will be placed on the panel for this region and discipline.

Has anybody heard from the Kildare County Council regarding the Eastern and Midlands selection? I placed 7th on the OOM for Economic Development for Eastern and Midlands but I haven’t heard anything yet?

Heard nothing yet either since the OOM email, doesn't seem the offers have gone out yet so wouldn't sweat it :)

Do they sponser visa for the graduate programme ? It's 3 years of contract . And international students have only 2 years of work permit. Any suggestions ?

Just wondering when ye interviewed for your streams/regions? I interviewed for the Southern Region early last week, no OOM received yet, wondering what the timeline people are expecting following interviews?

Dublin was end of march. East and Midlands was early/mid march.
Dublin emailed back today. East and Midlands emailed within a few days of the interview.

I would suggest send an email to the council if you haven't done yet and ask for clarification, specially for the sponsor visa. It's a very specific question, sorry.
I have a friend who have Stamp-4 Visa (marriage) for example, and normally it's necessary only to renew the visa to keep working in the company. However, this is not a general rule and it all depends of each company requirements, which visa they accept or not... If your visa can be reviewed or not.
They will definitely ask you about your visa status and make a decision. Hope it helped.

I'm in Comms & Marketing too. Top 10 OOM in border & western and in the 20's for the Dublin region. I don't have high hopes for Dublin but would love to know if there's a realistic chance in either.

I think no one has got the call regarding the placements. Are the references going to be contacted ? If yes who are the references ?

I don't know about specifically about Wexford but I just spoke with Cork CoCo and they advised that there was only one position for Economic Enterprise stream in all of Cork City. Not sure if that would have any bearing on Wexfords capacity, I had assumed Cork City would have a higher intake than some others but apparently not. I'd say try send them an email, that's what I did and they got back to me within a few hours

Ok and if you applied for that area could they offer you another area or is it strictly the area you applied for? Thanks

Same here in the data analytics stream as well. I was placed in the top 10 and they clearly mentioned that saying it's unlikely that I will be offered a position in the first round of placements.

Strictly the areas you applied for I believe.
I only applied for City City and got top 5 OOM in the southern region but one of the people ahead of me has been offered the position.

Does anyone know if that means the person ahead of me definitely had Cork City as their first preference? Or would I still not get the offer even if it was their second or third preference, until they had accept their first?

In the 2017 recruitment, they called people upto 50 oom. This is so confusing.

In 2017 the OOM wasn't split into streams like it is now. Thats why the numbers were so high for people being called.

Any update from Dublin council ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Jobi1

Those placed highest on the order of merit should have their preferences considered first.

For example, if all of the top 5 candidates in the southern region indicated Cork City as their preferred location, and Enterprise as their first preference, then only number one will get the offer if there is only one post available. The second preference of the 2nd placed candidate on the Order of Merit will be the next offer made if that makes sense?

At the same time, if nobody in the top 5 chose HR and you were placed 6th with HR as your first preference, then you would be made the offer.
Ultimately, if you aren't first, then your offer may depend on the choices of those placed higher on the OOM.

In 2018 there was both regions and skills areas (1 less skills area than this time).
The only difference was that candidates did not know in advance where the vacancies were. This has been updated this year.

A previous poster said there were 50 calls made in 2017. There were approximately 100 made in 2018 in 2 separate rounds. I have no idea how many are available in the 2021 competition, but judging by the number of locations indicated on the application form where vacancies were available, it won't be so high this time around.

When do they get in touch after oom result email? It said on the email the County Council would be in contact with me shortly regarding my placing on the panel for my skill set.

Correct. People may have been 50th on the OOM but 3rd for their desired stream, they had no way of knowing. This is why people who were high on the OOM were getting calls.

This year the OOM's are split into streams/regions meaning generally people will have a low OOM placement in comparison to 2017/18 but a similar chance of being offered a place.
